The reason is not only because the physiological functions of the elderly have deteriorated, but also because many people have fallen into health misunderstandings due to excessive attention to health.

Older friends should understand correct health knowledge and avoid health misunderstandings in order to better prevent diseases and delay aging.

1. Your legs and feet will not get better with more training. Some elderly friends, when they experience knee pain, will increase their activity level, thinking that the more they train their legs and feet, the better. However, the result is that the pain symptoms become more and more severe.

This is because as we age, the muscles and bones of the human body will undergo degenerative changes, the repair ability of articular cartilage will decrease, wear and tear will increase, and degenerative osteoarthritis will become more likely to occur.

What you need to do at this time is to get enough rest, reduce activities, and ensure a balanced nutrition to promote joint repair and alleviate symptoms.

2. Drinking vinegar cannot soften blood vessels If you soak a bone in vinegar, the bone will become soft. So some people take it for granted that vinegar has a "softening" effect, so drinking more vinegar will soften the hardened blood vessels in the body.

However, the vinegar we drink cannot directly enter the blood vessels and will not soften the blood vessels at all. The vinegar we drink only increases the flavor of the food, replenishes some water and trace elements, and increases the stimulation to the gastric mucosa.

In fact, the stomach acid in the human body is hydrochloric acid, which is much stronger than acetic acid. If acidity could be used to soften blood vessels, stomach acid would have done it long ago.

3. Excessive frugality is not good for health. Many elderly friends have experienced the hardship of being poor and have the habit of frugality. They are reluctant to throw away leftovers and will heat them up before eating. If the fruit is moldy or rotten, they will cut off the bad parts and eat the parts that look good. However, although these foods look good, they are easily contaminated by bacteria. In fact, the bacteria have exceeded the standard and are not suitable for continued consumption.

If you have a stomach upset after one meal, the medical expenses you spend may not be recovered even if you eat twenty meals of leftovers. Moreover, the nitrite content in vegetables will increase after being left overnight. Even if the leftovers are not spoiled, the nitrite will be converted into carcinogenic nitrosamines in the stomach, which is a great threat to health and the gain is not worth the loss. Therefore, thrift is a virtue, but excessive consumption is not good for health.

4. Eat less oil and less salt. Don’t eat too much salt. Eating too much salt can cause high blood pressure, and eating too much oil can cause high blood lipids. Therefore, many elderly people will control their diet and eat less salt and less oil. But eating less salt is not necessarily better. The human body needs a certain amount of sodium ions to maintain osmotic pressure.

When salt intake is insufficient, hyponatremia will occur, causing damage to the central nervous system. Therefore, it is healthiest to control the daily salt intake between 3 and 6 grams.

Some fat-soluble nutrients need to be dissolved in fat to be absorbed by the human body, so if there is no oil in the diet, it will cause malnutrition and metabolic disorders. Therefore, it is necessary to consume about 25 grams of fat every day to ensure the health of the body. It is recommended to choose vegetable oil with high unsaturated fatty acid content.

5. Don’t exercise too early Many elderly people like to get up early to exercise, but although a day’s plan begins in the morning, morning is not a good time to exercise. Because the sympathetic nerve activity of the human body is enhanced in the morning, and blood pressure also has a “morning peak phenomenon”, from 6 to 10 in the morning, the blood pressure of the human body is often the highest in the day, which is prone to cardiovascular and cerebrovascular accidents.

The elderly should choose to exercise in the afternoon or evening. Exercise one hour after a meal to avoid exercise affecting digestion and prevent hypoglycemia. Remember to replenish water before exercise.

6. Do not go for infusion to prevent thrombosis. Many elderly people believe that regular infusion can flush blood vessels and wash away the "garbage" in the blood vessels. They go to the hospital for infusion regularly and use some blood circulation and blood stasis drugs to prevent thrombosis. But in fact, there is no garbage in the human blood vessels. Myocardial infarction, cerebral infarction and other diseases related to thrombosis are the consequences of factors such as hypertension, hyperlipidemia, diabetes, atrial fibrillation, smoking, etc.

To prevent thrombosis, you only need to quit smoking, control the "three highs", and maintain a healthy lifestyle. People at high risk of the disease need to take oral antiplatelet and anticoagulant drugs for prevention under the guidance of a doctor.

Infusion is a means of medication. Unnecessary infusion is not good for health. Excessive infusion will also bring excessive insoluble particles into the human body, inducing granulomas in small blood vessels, posing potential health risks.
