What is fruit acid? Classification of fruit acids

In the medical cosmetology industry, the most commonly used ingredients are glycolic acid and lactic acid. Glycolic acid, also known as glycanic acid and glycolic acid, was first extracted from sugarcane and is the most widely used fruit acid product. It is an active ingredient found in many natural fruits or yogurts. It includes gluconic acid, malic acid, citrus acid and lactic acid, etc. Because most of them are extracted from fruits, they are called fruit acids. That's it!

What is AHA

Fruit acid, as the name implies, is a variety of organic acids extracted from fruits. It is an effective ingredient found in many natural fruits or yogurts. It includes grape acid, malic acid, citrus acid and lactic acid. Because most of them are extracted from fruits, they are called fruit acids. Among them, glycolic acid extracted from sugarcane is the most widely used.

Classification of fruit acids

According to the different molecular structures, fruit acids can be divided into 37 types: glycolic acid, lactic acid, malic acid, tartaric acid, citric acid, mandelic acid, etc. However, in the medical beauty industry, glycolic acid and lactic acid are the most commonly used ingredients. Glycolic acid, also known as sugarcane acid and glycolic acid, was first extracted from sugarcane and is the most widely used fruit acid product. Glycolic acid has the smallest molecular weight (76) among fruit acids, so it is the easiest to penetrate the surface of the skin and has the most obvious absorption effect. It is the most commonly used fruit acid for skin peeling. Lactic acid has the second smallest molecular weight (90) among fruit acids. Because it has strong moisturizing properties and natural ingredients that will not irritate human skin, it is widely used to improve skin dryness and keratinization. At high concentrations, tartaric acid is the fastest to loosen and peel the skin, followed by glycolic acid and lactic acid. As for promoting cell renewal, lactic acid has the best effect, followed by glycolic acid.

Precautions for consuming fruit acid

1. Fruit acid can remove dead skin cells by itself. You don't need to use exfoliating products, steam your face, or over-massage to avoid damaging your skin. Wash your face as gently as possible to avoid irritating your skin. High-concentration fruit acid, A acid, and vitamin C are all products with low pH values, so it is not recommended to use them at the same time.

2. When using fruit acid, the skin may be more sensitive to some external stimuli, such as sun exposure, wind, and some cosmetics containing alcohol and exfoliating ingredients, because the stratum corneum is thin. It is necessary to add some protective measures, such as using moisturizing moisturizers and repair ointments. Although fruit acid is not as photosensitive as A acid and can be used in the morning and evening, it is easy to get tanned and sunburned if you do not apply sunscreen after exfoliation. Therefore, you must pay attention to sun protection when applying fruit acid during the day, and try not to let the skin be stimulated by the sun.

3. If the skin has symptoms such as stinging, redness, itching, peeling, etc., you should stop using the fruit acid immediately. You can apply cold water to your face for 10-20 minutes to calm it down, and use a repair cream to increase moisture and maintenance. If it is serious, you can go to the hospital and ask the doctor to use a repair ointment. When using it again, you should start with a low concentration, and then slowly increase the concentration and the number of times you use it. After a period of time, you will gradually adapt because of increased tolerance.

4. People with sensitive skin can do a patch test before use, or apply it on the inside of the arm. If there is no irritation, consider using it. When using, avoid the mucous membranes and the area around the eyes. The skin around the lips is weak, so the amount should be reduced when using.
