Do you always have red bloodshot eyes? Most of them are caused by the following situations

For the young people who love surfing the Internet, their mobile phones and computers are almost always with them, but their eyes have already sent out protest signals, such as dry eyes, foreign body sensation, blurred vision, etc., and their eyes are always red and full of small bloodshot. So, what are the conditions that may cause red bloodshot? Dr. Chen Xiangxi, deputy chief physician, secretary of the cornea and ocular surface group of Aier Eye Hospital Group, and deputy director of the ocular surface and corneal disease department of Aier Eye Hospital Affiliated to Wuhan University (Aier Eye Hospital Group Hubei General Hospital), will tell you about it~

Dry eyes

Prolonged use of the eyes (such as reading, using electronic products, driving, etc.) and bad living habits will aggravate dry eyes. Common symptoms of dry eyes include dry eyes, itching, red bloodshot eyes, foreign body sensation, pain, burning sensation, photophobia, etc. Severe cases may affect vision.

Countermeasures: Do more blinking exercises and pay attention to your eye habits. If there is no improvement, you can go to the dry eye clinic of the hospital for treatment.

Excessive use of eyes

Excessive use of the eyes, such as staying up late for a long time, lack of sleep, or staring at electronic screens such as computers and mobile phones for a long time, or driving for a long time with eyes fixed on the front, etc. When the eyes do not get rest for a long time, it will cause overwork and overload of the eyes, resulting in the appearance of red bloodshot.

Countermeasure: Reduce the time of close eye use. After working or studying for 40 minutes, close your eyes to rest or look into the distance for 10-15 minutes. At the same time, ensure adequate sleep.

Eye infection or inflammation

The appearance of red bloodshot eyes may be due to eye infections. When the eyes are infected by various bacteria, it can cause keratitis, corneal ulcers, iridocyclitis, endophthalmitis, and various types of conjunctivitis.

Countermeasures: When an infectious disease occurs in the eyes, go to a regular ophthalmology hospital in time for examination and treatment. Never rub your eyes with your hands or take medicine on your own to avoid delaying the disease.

Improper contact lens wearing

Contact lenses are in direct contact with the cornea. Long-term wearing can easily cause corneal hypoxia, leading to dilation of conjunctival blood vessels and causing red bloodshot eyes. If you do not pay attention to regular care and cleaning, it may also cause eye infection and red bloodshot eyes.

Countermeasures: Daily wearing time should not exceed 8 hours. At the same time, do not use inferior contact lenses or those that do not meet relevant national standards. Do a good job of daily cleaning and maintenance of contact lenses and pay attention to eye hygiene.

Abuse of cosmetics

Nowadays, many women who love beauty like to put on eye makeup. During the makeup process, some powdered cosmetics can easily fall into the eyes and cause infection. Friends who have long eyelashes, eyeliner, or wear cosmetic contact lenses should pay more attention to eye irritation and red bloodshot.

Countermeasures: Be careful when applying eye makeup, remove makeup promptly and thoroughly, and pay attention to eye cleanliness. Use regular makeup products, master the correct makeup method, and do not let makeup get into your eyes.
