The low blood pressure is close to 100, but the high blood pressure is normal. Is it dangerous? What should I do?

A friend left a message to Huazi saying that his blood pressure is not very good. The low pressure is close to 100 mmHg, but the high pressure is only at most 130 mmHg. Is this kind of hypertension with elevated low pressure and normal high pressure very dangerous?

Hua Zi said that if we only look at the absolute danger of high blood pressure, a simple increase in high blood pressure is more dangerous than a simple increase in low blood pressure, because a simple increase in high blood pressure means that the hardening of the large arteries is serious, while a simple increase in low blood pressure means that the elasticity of the large arteries is still acceptable.

1. Inferring the elasticity of arteries from blood pressure When the heart beats and pumps blood, it does not directly send blood to all parts of the body, but first sends blood to the aorta. The aorta will expand elastically to accommodate blood, and when the heart relaxes, the aorta will shrink back by its own elasticity and continue to push blood to the small arteries.

In other words, the aortic system is like a "balloon", constantly expanding and shrinking with the beating of the heart.

As we age, the elasticity of the aorta gradually decreases, and the heart needs more force to "blow up the balloon", and the high pressure (systolic pressure) increases. When the heart relaxes, the elasticity of the "balloon" decreases, so the low pressure (diastolic pressure) remains unchanged or is low.

Simple increase in high blood pressure indicates hardening of the large arteries and decreased elasticity, which is also a typical feature of senile hypertension.

Corresponding to the simple increase in high blood pressure is the simple increase in low blood pressure. This is because the elasticity of the large arteries is still acceptable, but the resistance of the peripheral arterioles increases, so the resistance of the "balloon" to retraction increases, resulting in an increase in low blood pressure, which is also a typical feature of hypertension in young and middle-aged people.

The higher the high blood pressure, the higher the degree of aortic sclerosis and the greater the risk. However, if the low blood pressure increases, the aorta will not be able to fully retract. If this continues for a long time, the elasticity of the aorta will decrease and eventually develop into high blood pressure.

2. Common causes and solutions for increased diastolic blood pressure. In terms of risk, every 5 mmHg increase in diastolic blood pressure is basically the same as a 10 mmHg increase in systolic blood pressure, both of which will cause harm to the cardiovascular system. Moreover, those with simple elevated diastolic blood pressure often have a poor prognosis if not actively treated. Therefore, even if only the diastolic blood pressure is elevated, it must be actively controlled.

The method of controlling blood pressure is mainly based on oral antihypertensive drugs, but low blood pressure is poorly sensitive to antihypertensive drugs. It is necessary to find the cause of increased low blood pressure and intervene, and combine it with drugs to control low blood pressure together.

1. High mental stress: Young and middle-aged people face high stress in life, work, and relationships, which leads to long-term tension and anxiety. This is a common cause of elevated low blood pressure. This type of hypertension is often characterized by insomnia or early awakening, and a resting heart rate greater than 80.

Relaxing the mind, eliminating anxiety, and improving sleep quality by listening to music, exercising, and participating in social activities can restore blood pressure to normal. Lolamine drugs can be used to lower blood pressure and heart rate. Severe anxiety may require treatment with anti-anxiety drugs.

2. High renin level: Some people have high renin level, which raises blood pressure through the "renin-angiotensin-aldosterone" system (RAAS), but their heart rate is normal. You can use prils or sartans that inhibit RAAS to lower blood pressure. Prils are prone to cause adverse reactions such as dry cough, so sartans are more commonly used.

At the same time, it is necessary to check the kidneys with color Doppler ultrasound and renal angiography to see if there is secondary hypertension caused by renal cortical hyperplasia, tumors, renal vascular stenosis, etc. If there is a related disease, surgery is required to cure it.

3. Bad living habits: Excessive drinking is one of the causes of high blood pressure, and alcoholics should quit drinking. Smoking has a neutral effect on blood pressure, but the harmful substances in cigarettes will increase the damage of high blood pressure to the cardiovascular system, so smokers should quit smoking.

Excessive salt intake will increase the excitability of vascular smooth muscle cells and induce high blood pressure. Salt intake should be limited to 3-6 grams per day. Staying up late, insomnia, early awakening, severe snoring (snoring) and other factors affect sleep quality and can also increase blood pressure.

Therefore, people with bad living habits need to change to a regular schedule and healthy diet to help themselves control their blood pressure. If blood pressure cannot be controlled after improving living habits for 3 months, it is necessary to use antihypertensive drugs under the guidance of a doctor to control blood pressure.

4. Obesity: People who are overweight have a heavy burden on the blood supply of peripheral arterioles, which will increase peripheral resistance and cause increased low blood pressure. While taking antihypertensive drugs, losing weight is also an effective way to lower blood pressure.

5. Essential hypertension: Many people have high blood pressure and cannot find the specific cause. It may be essential hypertension, which cannot be cured and requires regular medication to control blood pressure. Sartan and dipine are often used in combination for long-term treatment. If the heart rate is too fast, dipine and lol can also be used in combination. If it is refractory hypertension, three or four drugs are needed to control it.

To sum up, hypertension with simple low blood pressure increase is less dangerous than high blood pressure increase. However, it will also cause harm to the cardiovascular system, and if not intervened in time, it will progress to high blood pressure increase. For simple low blood pressure increase with a specific cause, it can be cured after the cause is eliminated. The treatment of hypertension requires a combination of lifestyle intervention and drug therapy. Drugs must be used under the guidance of a doctor.
