Saving money is a good habit? 4 types of cancer are caused by "saving money", doctors reveal the truth

The ancients said, "Be quiet to cultivate yourself, be frugal to cultivate your virtues." Diligence and thrift are the traditional virtues of the Chinese nation, and our parents have also inherited this virtue. But is it really a good thing to save money everywhere in life? Little do we know that it has left us with great harm.

A few decades ago, people were terrified when talking about cancer. At that time, the sky was still blue and the water was still clear. But what about now? Cancer has become commonplace. Liver cancer, lung cancer, stomach cancer, esophageal cancer, intestinal cancer, etc. are all high-incidence cancers. So what is the relationship between cancer and saving?

Gastric cancer

Are you reluctant to throw away the leftovers at home? Do you reheat them and continue eating them the next day? Especially the elderly at home, when they see their children throwing away the leftovers, they can't help but nag about the waste. Some even say, "Young people nowadays are too ignorant and unreasonable. They don't know how to save money."

Leftover food contains a certain amount of nitrite. Although nitrite does not directly cause cancer, it will turn into nitrosamines under certain conditions, which are carcinogens. Frequent consumption of leftover food will also lead to high intake of nitrites, increasing the risk of cancer. At the same time, leftover food will become saltier as it is left for a long time. High salt intake will cause damage to the gastric mucosa and increase the risk of gastric cancer.

Liver cancer

When foods with very high starch content, such as peanuts, beans, and corn, become moldy, they will produce aflatoxin, which causes liver cancer. If the humidity and temperature of these foods are not suitable during storage, they will also cause the food to rot and produce aflatoxin. Aflatoxin is very harmful to the body. After being ingested through food, it is absorbed through the digestive tract and distributed in the liver, kidneys, blood, muscles, and fat. Its main metabolites are also toxic or carcinogenic and mutagenic.

The World Health Organization has clearly stated that aflatoxin is a Class I carcinogen, and just 1 mg is enough to cause cancer. Stubborn aflatoxin can only be completely eliminated at a high temperature of more than 200 degrees. The temperature we usually cook cannot completely eliminate it, so we must prevent its formation.

Lung cancer

Smoking is harmful to health, and it is most harmful to the lungs. But why do women who don't smoke also suffer from lung cancer? This is related to secondhand smoke to a certain extent, but more importantly, women are too frugal when cooking. Women are the main force in family cooking, and most families have women cooking. However, in order to save electricity when cooking, some people either don't turn on the range hood, or turn off the range hood quickly after cooking.

Chinese people like to stir-fry, deep-fry, and fry, which all produce a lot of fumes. Zhuang Xiang, chief physician of the Department of Thoracic Surgery at Sichuan Cancer Hospital, once said in an interview: "If you cook for an hour in a closed space without turning on the range hood, the damage to your lungs is equivalent to smoking two packs of cigarettes." Fumes contain the carcinogen "benzopyrene", which can induce lung tissue cancer.

Colon cancer

The incidence of colon cancer is increasing year by year. In the past, the incidence of colon cancer was high in Europe and the United States, but now the rising trend of colon cancer incidence in Chinese people is closely related to diet. Although living conditions are better nowadays, some people eat less vegetables and eat more steamed buns and rice.

Steamed bread and rice contain relatively little dietary fiber. Lack of dietary fiber will lead to problems with fecal excretion and frequent constipation. Frequent constipation increases the risk of colon cancer. Vegetables, especially leafy vegetables, are the main source of dietary fiber. To stay away from colon cancer, you should eat at least 500 grams of vegetables every day.

The cancers mentioned above are the most common ones. In fact, many cancer causes are also caused by improper daily life, which are not listed here. If you want to prevent cancer, you should pay attention to the following points:

1. Reasonable food combination

The nutrients needed by the body mainly come from food. You can adjust your diet according to the "Dietary Guidelines for Chinese Residents" and "Dietary Pagoda for Chinese Residents" to avoid nutrient deficiency or excess. For food, choose fresh food, eat less processed meat products, and reduce the intake of oil and salt.

2. Exercise for at least one hour every day

Life lies in exercise. Exercising every day is a prerequisite for improving physical fitness. Exercising can help the body consume energy and reduce the occurrence of obesity. If you insist on exercising for a long time, your physical fitness will improve and your ability to resist diseases will also improve.

3. Don’t stay up late

Staying up late is a Class 2A carcinogenic factor, which can also reduce the body's immunity and increase the risk of disease. You should get enough sleep every day to relieve physical fatigue and have a good mental state to face every day. Go to bed no later than 11 o'clock at night, and try to go to bed early and get up early.

4. Quit smoking and drinking

Cigarettes and alcohol contain some carcinogens, which can affect our health. For example, smoking increases the risk of lung cancer, and secondhand smoke is even more harmful. Drinking alcohol increases the risk of stomach cancer and liver cancer. Quitting smoking and drinking can reduce the risk of these diseases.
