The temperature drops in autumn and winter. People with high blood pressure should pay attention to changes in blood pressure.

Many friends with high blood pressure asked Huazi, "I took antihypertensive drugs for several months and my blood pressure was stable, but recently my blood pressure has suddenly increased. Does the season have an impact on blood pressure? What should I do?" Huazi said that in autumn and winter, the human body's blood pressure tends to increase. People with high blood pressure need to adjust their antihypertensive drugs to control their blood pressure.

There are two ways to adjust antihypertensive drugs. One way is to increase the dosage of the drug, and the other way is to increase the types of medications. The selection is usually based on the blood pressure value.

1. Why does blood pressure rise in autumn and winter? The body's blood pressure fluctuates with the seasons, especially in northern my country, where the temperature difference between seasons is large, which has a more obvious impact on blood pressure. In autumn and winter, the temperature turns cooler, and the blood vessels on the surface of the body contract, which can increase blood pressure. When the temperature turns cooler, the body sweats less, the discharge of sodium ions also decreases accordingly, and the blood volume increases, which can easily increase blood pressure.

Antihypertensive drugs taken in spring and summer may not be able to control blood pressure in autumn and winter, so you need to pay attention to monitoring your blood pressure in autumn and winter. If your blood pressure is higher than 140/90 mmHg in the hospital clinic, or higher than 135/85 mmHg when measured at home, it means that your blood pressure is high.

2. Should drug adjustment be increasing the dosage or adding more drugs? If blood pressure is found to be elevated, it means that the antihypertensive drugs currently taken cannot control blood pressure well and drug adjustment is needed. When adjusting, it depends on how much the blood pressure value has increased compared to the spring and summer seasons. If the blood pressure has only increased by 10-20 mmHg, then the dosage can be increased on the basis of the original antihypertensive drugs.

If the maximum dose of the original antihypertensive drug has been used, or the blood pressure rises by more than 20 mmHg, it is recommended to see a doctor. After checking that no other problems have occurred in the heart, brain, kidneys and other organs, combined treatment with other antihypertensive drugs can be carried out.

Common combination uses of the two antihypertensive drugs include "dipine + lolamine", "dipine + pril", "dipine + sartan", "dipine + diuretics", "pril + diuretics", "sartan + diuretics" and many other options, which need to be selected under the guidance of a doctor.

3. You should also pay attention to adjusting your lifestyle. 1. When the weather is cold, don’t forget to put on more clothes, especially keep your head and neck warm to reduce the risk of stroke.

2. If your blood pressure rises by more than 20 mmHg compared to spring and summer, you need to go to the hospital for examination to rule out secondary hypertension caused by other diseases.

3. Salt intake needs to be limited in the diet, with a limit of 3 to 6 grams of salt per day. Pay attention to the hidden salt in processed foods. For example, pickles, braised meat, sausages, biscuits and other foods all contain salt, so be careful to control it.

4. Increase the amount of vegetables and whole grains in your diet to get enough dietary fiber, prevent constipation, and avoid danger when straining during bowel movements.

5. Hypertensive patients need to maintain regular exercise. It is recommended to do moderate-intensity aerobic exercise for more than 30 minutes a day, which can improve cardiopulmonary capacity, increase vascular elasticity, and lower blood pressure. However, blood pressure should be controlled before exercise. If blood pressure is higher than 160 mmHg, exercise is not recommended.

6. People with high blood pressure should quit smoking and drinking. Smoking will aggravate the damage of high blood pressure to blood vessels and must be quit. The short-term effect of alcohol on the human body is to lower blood pressure, but the long-term effect is to increase blood pressure. Even drinking a small amount of alcohol will not bring any benefit to the body.

To sum up, in autumn and winter, human blood pressure will show an upward trend, which is mainly related to the lower ambient temperature. If the blood pressure does not rise much, just increase the dosage of the drug. If the blood pressure rises more, it is necessary to take a combination of drugs under the guidance of a doctor, and pay attention to lifestyle improvements.
