Postoperative discharge instructions for strabismus

To facilitate all patients after strabismus surgery so that they can continue to take medication correctly, use their eyes reasonably and eat scientifically after discharge, the new version of the discharge guide after strabismus surgery of Wuhan Aier Eye Hospital is hereby announced as follows.

Check-out instructions on the day of discharge

1. Patients discharged at 8:30 am will be given priority for treatment. 2. After treatment, bring the red receipt for admission to the nurse station to receive the settlement notice, diagnosis certificate, and discharge record. 3. Bring the above slips to the cashier on the first floor to settle the bill and claim reimbursement. 4. After settlement, return to the nurse station on the 5th floor and hand the blue settlement receipt to the nurse, who will issue the medical record book before you can leave the hospital.

Discharge medication instructions (external washing and cleaning)

Vitamin B12 eye drops + cold compress for eyes

Function: Eye wash and cleaning

Usage: Ask the patient to close his eyes, put 1-2 drops of B12 eye drops on the root of the eyelashes, then cover the eyes with the cold compress for 3-5 minutes and wipe around the eyes

Frequency: Once a day (8:00 am)

Discharge medication instructions (eye drops and eye ointments)

Eye hygiene guidance

1. The operated eye should not be exposed to water within one month, and should be avoided when washing face or hair. Swimming is not allowed within six months.

2. Do not rub your eyes hard to prevent the wound from splitting.

3. Strabismus surgery does not change vision, so those who already wear glasses should continue to wear them.

4. Before using eye drops, please wash your hands with soap or hand sanitizer. Do not let unsterilized hands or paper towels touch the operated eyes.

5. Do not engage in confrontational sports.

6. Wear sunglasses when encountering strong wind and sunlight.

7. Use your eyes scientifically and combine work and rest.

8. If you find your eye is red, swollen, or has increased discharge, please see a doctor immediately.

Dietary guidance

1. Recommended: a diet rich in nutrition, high in protein, vitamins, and crude fiber (such as fresh fruits, vegetables, meat, and eggs). 2. Avoid: spicy and irritating foods, tobacco, and alcohol.

Review Guidance

1. Come to the hospital for a follow-up examination one week after discharge

2. The following items should be brought for the follow-up examination: (outpatient medical records, medical card)

3. Check with the pediatric ophthalmology department on the first floor

4. If you feel any discomfort after discharge, please feel free to come back for a follow-up visit or call for consultation.

1. After using the cold compress, please buy a sterile cotton swab at the pharmacy and soak it in medicine to wipe the area around the eyes.

2. When using eye drops, there should be a 5-10 minute interval between each application.

3. Wash your hands when using eye drops to keep your hands clean and prevent infection.
