Ruili reports new COVID-19 cases again, what is going on?

According to the Yunnan Provincial Health Commission, on March 30, Yunnan Province had 6 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 and 3 new asymptomatic infections, all in Ruili City. One of the 6 new confirmed cases was of Burmese nationality, and all 3 asymptomatic infections were of Burmese nationality. After many days, the mainland had a local confirmed case again, which immediately attracted widespread attention from the public.

I am in Kunming and I am speechless. This morning, my workplace began to check everyone's whereabouts to determine whether they have been to Ruili.

Although the epidemic situation abroad is still severe, everything in China has returned to normal. Especially now is the season of spring when flowers are blooming, and everything is developing in a prosperous direction. The sudden increase in confirmed and asymptomatic infections in Ruili is really worrying!

This time, it was from Myanmar again. It is said that in Jiegao, it is really a headache. After all, in September last year, Ruili City had an incident where a Burmese national entered the country illegally, resulting in multiple confirmed cases.

Ruili's geographical location:

Ruili is located in the southwest of China and belongs to Dehong Dai and Jingpo Autonomous Prefecture. In the western part of Yunnan bordering Myanmar, epidemic prevention work is indeed very difficult. As shown in the picture below, Ruili is surrounded by Myanmar on three sides.

Because the local environment is extremely difficult to guard against and the mountains and rivers are connected, Burmese people often sneak in directly.

Why is it a local increase rather than an overseas import?

The reason why it is called local new cases this time is because these cases were not detected through normal entry, which would be called imported cases from abroad.

This time it was discovered during the verification of key populations.

In other words, these people had been in the country for some time, and when the local authorities decided to test key groups, they found that some of them were infected.

This is a bit troublesome. If the entry time is long, there will be a lot of potential contacts, which may lead to further spread.

Last year, in order to prevent illegal immigration, Kunming issued a notice to report illegal immigration.

On September 16, the Kunming Municipal Public Security Bureau issued a notice on "Further Strengthening the Reporting Reward Channels for the "Three Investigations, Three Notifications, and One Publicity" Special Operation during the Epidemic Prevention and Control Period" (hereinafter referred to as the notice). The notice clearly stated that from September 14, the Kunming Municipal Public Security Bureau launched the "Three Investigations, Three Notifications, and One Publicity" special operation. During this period, the Kunming Municipal Public Security Bureau will give corresponding rewards to those who report clues of illegal and criminal acts such as illegal crossing of the national (border) border and verify them to be true, with a maximum reward of 100,000 yuan. Reporting clues of crimes such as illegal crossing of the national (border) border or organizing and transporting others to illegally cross the national (border) border, if verified to be true, will be rewarded with 2,000 to 50,000 yuan depending on the results of the verification.

But it is still hard to prevent. The epidemic prevention work really cannot be relaxed for a moment. The closer to the border area, the more detailed and strict the epidemic prevention work must be!

Prevention and control measures taken by Ruili City:

1. Jiegao Guomen Community has been closed

2. We have notified everyone in the urban area to carry out nucleic acid testing. In principle, no people or vehicles are allowed to enter or leave the city to prevent the spread of the epidemic.

3. Implement traffic control on the passages in and out of Ruili city

4. People who left Ruili after March 14th should register with the local community and undergo nucleic acid testing

However, we have accumulated enough experience in dealing with the epidemic, and I believe everything will be fine!

But then again, if smuggling cannot be stopped, one day China may have to learn from the United States and build a wall.
