Subversion! Whether or not you get pregnant depends on the egg! Can human eggs "select" sperm?

Sometimes pregnancy depends on luck, but sometimes it may also rely on some "sperm skills" -

Research: Can human eggs "pick" sperm? Women prefer and select certain "sperm" A new study from Stockholm University and Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust shows that eggs use certain chemical signals to select sperm. Different women's eggs attract sperm from different men - and not necessarily their partners.

You might think that everything is fine after you get married and have your wedding night. In fact, the study shows that mate selection continues after mating, and human eggs prefer certain sperm and even use chemical signals to attract sperm.

"Human eggs have an advantage in attracting sperm from some men over others," Fitzpatrick, a researcher in reproductive behavior, explained in the experiment. "When sperm from two men was compared, the eggs attracted 18% to 40% more sperm from the man they preferred."

Let’s learn more, so what does egg preference mean for the future of fertility?

In fact, in human conception, sperm have only one role - to fertilize the egg. That's their mission, either fertilize the egg or die, so there's no need for them to be picky. But the egg can benefit from choosing high-quality or genetically compatible sperm.

But the study does not suggest that infertility is caused by incompatibility between partners. Currently around a third of infertility cases worldwide have no clear cause. Research into the way eggs and sperm interact will advance fertility treatments and may eventually help us understand why some currently 'unexplained' couples are unable to conceive.

Infertility has recently become a hot topic among young men and women. In my country, 60 million families are suffering from infertility. Which type of people are most affected by infertility?

People who prefer infertility

1. Women with high work pressure

If women continue to have high work pressure and a fast pace of life, it will cause serious endocrine disorders, which will directly affect the implantation of the embryo in the uterus and ultimately affect the outcome of pregnancy. In addition, long-term anxiety, depression, fear and other negative emotional stimulation can be transmitted to the brain through nerves, affecting the function of the hypothalamus and pituitary gland, hindering the secretion of hormones and inhibiting the normal ovulation of the ovaries.

2. Those who postpone childbearing

Ten years ago, the average childbearing age of women in my country was between 24 and 25 years old, but in recent years there are many women who have not yet become pregnant at the age of 30.

From a medical perspective, the so-called "good age" means the lowest incidence of various adverse outcomes in medicine. For women, 25 to 29 years old is the golden period for women to give birth, and the health of both mothers and children can be supported. However, whether it is men or women, their reproductive capacity will decline with age. For women, as they age, the chance of dystocia increases greatly, and the proportion of fetal malformations also increases significantly; for men, 30 years old is the peak of male fertility, and after 30 years old, reproductive capacity begins to decline year by year.

3. Men/women with irregular lifestyles

Lack of sleep, emotional stress, irregular diet, lack of exercise, etc., will indirectly affect people's health and even cause infertility. In addition, food safety issues, environmental pollution, and radiation can also lead to infertility.

4. Men who are in a high temperature environment for a long time

The testicles need an environment that is 1℃~1.5℃ lower than normal body temperature to produce sperm, and a warm environment will affect sperm production. Therefore, frequent hot water baths and soaking in the bath will have a certain impact on testicular sperm production. In addition, riding bicycles, motorcycles, tricycles, etc. too frequently will cause chronic strain and congestion of the prostate and other accessory glands, thereby affecting fertility. This is also one of the reasons for the phenomenon of low sperm count and weak sperm count in men.

5. Those with a history of multiple miscarriages or uterine curettage

If women have too many abortions or are too young, it may cause damage to their reproductive organs, induce diseases such as pelvic infection, and lead to long-term complications such as infertility.

Scientifically prepare for pregnancy and rationally create a baby. For prospective parents preparing for pregnancy, it is crucial to do these five things well:

1. Choose the right age

It is not good to be pregnant at too old or too young. For women, the best childbearing age is 25-29 years old. In medicine, when a pregnant woman is over 35 years old, she is considered an elderly pregnant woman. For elderly mothers, the risk of pregnancy and childbirth will increase, but it does not mean that there will be any problems with the child. What we need to do is to reduce the risk as much as possible according to our own situation.

2. Obesity is a big taboo

Obesity affects not only appearance, but also pregnancy and childbirth.

Obesity increases the risk of many adverse pregnancy and delivery conditions, such as stillbirth, premature birth, and even fetal spina bifida and visceral malformations.

Therefore, obese women are advised to keep their weight within the ideal range before becoming pregnant.

But this does not mean that you can't eat this or that during the pregnancy preparation period. In fact, the diet during the pregnancy preparation period is not special. As long as the calories are reasonable and the nutrition is balanced, there is no need to deliberately "avoid certain foods".

However, for women who are preparing for pregnancy, moderate exercise is very necessary.

Many people do not have the habit of exercising normally. After they get pregnant, they hear that pregnant women need to exercise, and suddenly increasing the amount of exercise may lead to adverse reactions.

The best way is to allow your body to gradually adapt to moderate exercise during the pregnancy preparation period, so as to lay a good foundation for pregnancy and postpartum care.

3. Avoid harmful substances

Harmful substances need to reach a certain dose to cause fetal malformations, so during the pregnancy preparation period, you should avoid long-term exposure to harmful substances. The more obvious teratogens include some heavy metals, organic solvents, pesticides, etc.

Therefore, it is recommended that women who are exposed to harmful substances such as paint, pesticides, and radiation at work should stop working for a period of time before getting pregnant.

However, microwave ovens, electric blankets, mobile phones, computers, and even high-voltage transmission lines are all safe. There is currently no evidence that they cause adverse effects on the fetus, so there is no need to overreact.

4. The impact of drugs can be large or small

It is true that a small number of drugs may affect fetal development, but the impact is often not as great as you think.

The incidence of congenital malformations caused by many drugs is less than 3% to 5%, which is lower than the natural incidence of congenital malformations.

As for some people who want to abort their baby in early pregnancy because they accidentally took a cold medicine, it's okay and they need to observe first before making a decision.

It is recommended not to take unnecessary medications during pregnancy, but if you want to treat a disease, you should use the medication reasonably under the guidance of a doctor and strictly monitor the condition of the pregnant mother and the baby in the belly.

5. Husbands also need to prepare for pregnancy

It takes about 70 days for sperm to form, so after being well prepared, male compatriots can quit smoking and drinking for 3 months and then try to get pregnant.

However, women still need to get checked before they get pregnant. Childbirth has a huge impact on women's bodies, not only affecting the reproductive organs, but also all systems in the body. Therefore, before getting pregnant, it is necessary to understand the health of women to assess whether they can successfully get pregnant and give birth. If there are any problems, solve them as soon as possible.
