Does no stamp mean it's fake 304? Five rumors about thermos bottles, explained all at once

Young people who joked that thermos bottles were synonymous with "health preservation" a few years ago cannot escape the law of true fragrance, and now almost everyone owns one.

In fact, no matter what age group you are in, a thermos cup is a very practical item in life.

But how to choose a thermos cup? How to use it? Many people still don’t know.

Today we will talk about the rumors about "thermos bottles".

1. How to choose the material? You can choose 304 or 316, the difference is not big, as long as it is a well-known brand with a steel stamp or the brand number is indicated in the manual, there is basically no problem.

my country's standard grades or unified digital codes, such as 06Cr19Ni10 or S304XX, Japanese standard SUS304, etc., all belong to the broad sense of 304.

The common 304 used for thermos cup materials is mainly S30408 06Cr19Ni10, and others are relatively rare.

While 316 is mainly based on 06Cr17Ni12Mo2 of S31603.

Some brands do not print a steel stamp on the cup because it is not mandatory, but the material must be noted in the instructions.

So the absence of a steel stamp does not mean it is not 304 or 316. Please be sure to refer to the instruction manual to determine the material.

2. How to judge whether 304 is real or fake? It is said on the Internet that magnets can be used to verify whether 304 is real or fake?

In fact, it is not possible. Even if it is real 304, it may have a certain degree of weak magnetism.

Although 304 stainless steel is indeed non-ferromagnetic in its raw material state, it may become ferromagnetic after being processed and forged into daily necessities. We have also conducted relevant tests in the early days.

▲304 straws are ferromagnetic

In addition, the more common stainless steel identification liquid on the Internet is mainly copper sulfate, which relies on its reaction with manganese in stainless steel to determine whether it is the so-called stainless steel.

Because it is corrosive, it will leave marks once used, and as long as there is manganese in the stainless steel, a reaction will occur.

It can only be used to preliminarily determine whether it is stainless steel, but it cannot accurately reflect whether the material is 304.

Aside from testing in the laboratory, there is currently no routine way to correctly determine whether a thermos bottle is 304 stainless steel.

3. Is a thermos with a straw better? A thermos with a straw is fine for hot water at a low temperature, but if it exceeds 50℃, it is recommended to choose a thermos for direct drinking.

Because after strenuous exercise, hot water may easily rush out of some straw thermos bottles when they are opened, and if the temperature is too high, it is easy to get scalded.

In 2017, a little girl suffered extensive burns on her face due to hot water sprayed from a straw thermos.

After the thermos cup filled with hot water is shaken vigorously, the spray distance can even reach 3 meters.

Although straw thermos cups are convenient and popular among young children, it is still recommended not to fill them with overheated water to avoid burns caused by the spray of water vapor.

4. Can I use a thermos cup to hold drinks? It is not recommended to use a thermos cup to hold hot milk and juice.

✘ Hot milk: It will go bad easily over time;

✘ Acidic liquids such as juice: The inner wall will be corroded easily over a long period of time.

Moreover, it is also troublesome to wash straw cups and duckbill cups after filling them with drinks.

5. What should I do if the thermos has a strong odor? If the newly bought thermos has a strong odor, you can boil the plastic lid and silicone ring in boiling water for 10 minutes.

As for the inner tank, you can wash it several times with detergent and baking soda and let it dry, which can basically reduce most of the odor.

After getting the above knowledge points, you will no longer be confused when buying a thermos bottle.
