To prevent Norovirus, what should we pay attention to when disinfecting our homes?

Recently, at a press conference of the Joint Prevention and Control Mechanism of the State Council, Li Ning, deputy director of the National Food Safety Risk Assessment Center, said that winter is the peak season for the spread of norovirus, which often occurs in schools, kindergartens or tourist areas. Recently, many places have reported multiple cases of norovirus infection in schools, which are mainly transmitted through respiratory droplets, contaminated food and water. To take good prevention measures, you should pay attention to the following three points.

First, develop good hand hygiene habits. Be sure to wash your hands frequently before and after meals. Remember to use soapy water and hand sanitizer.

Second, pay special attention to food hygiene, wash vegetables and fruits thoroughly, do not eat shellfish raw, do not drink raw water, keep raw and cooked food separate, and cook thoroughly.

Third, in addition to strengthening the management of drinking water and food hygiene, schools and kindergartens should also strengthen the health management of employees and students. Once a patient is found, they must be isolated and can return to school three days after the symptoms disappear. In addition, schools and kindergartens must strengthen the cleaning and disinfection of key places and key areas. Key places include classrooms, canteens, toilets, etc. in public places, and key areas include door handles, faucets, stair handrails, elevator buttons, toilet flush buttons, etc.

Norovirus household disinfection precautions

Beijing Center for Disease Control and Prevention reminds: If a suspected Norovirus-infected patient with diarrhea and vomiting symptoms appears at home, disinfection measures should be taken as soon as possible. Chlorine-containing disinfectants are generally recommended for Norovirus disinfection. It should be noted that alcohol is ineffective against Norovirus. The main objects of disinfection include patient excrement, vomitus and their containers, tableware, toilets, and environmental surfaces that patients frequently contact, indoor floors, walls, furniture surfaces, clothes, and items. When disinfecting at home, you need to pay attention to 6 aspects.

1. Choice of disinfection method. Since norovirus is highly resistant, it is recommended to use chlorine-containing disinfectants for disinfection, such as 84 disinfectant, chlorine-containing disinfectant tablets, etc. Pay attention to the content of the disinfectant when preparing it.

2. Before disinfection, irrelevant personnel must be evacuated. During the disinfection and cleaning process, the generation of aerosols or dust should be avoided as much as possible.

3. For different disinfection objects, disinfection should be carried out according to the above-mentioned different usage concentrations, action times and disinfection methods to ensure the disinfection effect.

4. Rags, mops, etc. in toilets and restrooms should be used exclusively and should not be used in other places.

5. Disinfectants are toxic and irritating to a certain extent. Personal protection should be paid attention to when preparing and using them. Protective glasses, masks and gloves should be worn. At the same time, disinfectants are corrosive to a certain extent. Be sure to wipe them with clean water after disinfection to prevent damage to the disinfected items.

6. The disinfectant used should be within its validity period.
