When is the mango ripe?

There are six places in our country where mangoes are grown.

First, Guangxi mangoes are mainly concentrated in Baise, Qinzhou, Nanning, Yulin and the southern part of Liuzhou. They are mid-late ripening, with a ripening period from early June to mid-September.

Second, Hainan's mangoes mature in mid-March to mid-June, and are harvested and put on the market in late April. The normal harvest and market time for mangoes in Sanya, Hainan is from May to June. Through the off-season mango production technology, mangoes can be put on the market earlier in February to April. Luzon mangoes can be put on the market in Hainan in May, one and a half months earlier than Guangdong and Guangxi; white ivory mangoes are also put on the market in May and June, 30 to 50 days earlier than Yunnan.

Third, the maturity period in Guangdong is from late June to mid-August.

Fourth, the ripening period in Yunnan is from mid-June to late August (or early September). July and August every year are the time when a large number of mangoes in Yongde County, Yunnan are ripe and available on the market.

Fifth, the maturity period in Fujian is from July to August.

Sixth, mangoes in Sichuan Province are mainly distributed in Panzhihua City and Liangshan Yi Autonomous Prefecture. The ripening period is from late July to late September. Panzhihua mangoes are on the market 2 to 3 months later than other production areas, and the market time is from July to October.

How to ripen green mango

In many fruit stores, a lot of mangoes are purchased at one time, so you need to buy some extra ethylene. Cover the green mangoes with plastic film, press the bottom with wooden boards, slowly spray ethylene from the bottom, seal it, and it will be fully ripe in 1 to 2 days.

Usually, we buy fewer green mangoes at home, so we can use other fruits to ripen them. Many fruits have strong respiration and release some ethylene gas during the respiration process, which has a ripening effect on the fruits around them. Therefore, these green mangoes can be placed together with ripe bananas, apples, kiwis and other fruits to achieve a ripening effect.

Mangoes have strong respiration. Therefore, when mangoes are placed in a rice jar, the ethylene gas produced diffuses slowly because it is surrounded by rice. The ethylene concentration around the mangoes is higher, which has a certain ripening effect.

Mangoes can produce ethylene gas on their own, and this respiration is greatly affected by temperature. Therefore, sealing green mangoes in plastic bags and placing them in a place with higher temperatures, such as near a stove or heater, can help ripen them.
