What does CA153 test mean?

What does the CA153 test mean? The carbohydrate antigen CA15-3 is the most important specific marker for breast cancer. CA153 often increases in breast cancer, but its sensitivity is lower in the early stages of breast cancer, at about 60%. The positive rate of metastatic breast cancer reaches 80%. In Europe, CA153 is often used as an auxiliary diagnostic indicator for breast cancer, and is also used for post-operative follow-up to detect tumor onset and metastasis.

If CA15-3 is elevated, further examination may be necessary to exclude the possibility of a tumor, but the specificity of this indicator is not very high and there are many influencing factors. Therefore, it is mainly used for basic screening of tumors in clinical medicine and cannot be used for diagnosis of tumors.

The carbohydrate antigen CA15-3 is used to qualitatively analyze the concentration value of glycoprotein CA15-3 (Breast Cancer Antigen CA15-3) in human blood cells or blood according to the electrochemiluminescence enzyme immunoassay. Improve the commonness of breast cancer, commonness of breast cancer efficacy observation and prognosis estimation. The rate may also increase to varying degrees when metastasizing to ovarian cancer, colon cancer, liver cancer, bile duct cancer, pancreatic cancer, lung cancer, and bronchial cancer. In the 1980s, it had certain value in the diagnosis and treatment follow-up of breast cancer, but its low sensitivity in the early stages of breast cancer was its shortcoming. Generally, the standard value of CA15-3 is <28U/ml.

CA153 is a tumor marker. Its full Chinese name is carcinoembryonic antigen 153. It was first discovered and named in the 1980s. It has important application value in the diagnosis, treatment and postoperative follow-up of breast cancer. The sensitivity is lower in the early stages of breast cancer, at about 60%. The positive rate of metastatic breast cancer reaches 80%. In Europe, CA153 is often used as an auxiliary diagnostic indicator for breast cancer, and is also used for post-operative follow-up to detect tumor onset and metastasis. However, other tumors such as lung cancer, kidney cancer, colon cancer, pancreatic cancer, ovarian cancer, liver cancer, etc. may also increase to varying degrees. It is recommended to pay attention to the changes in ca153 during follow-up.
