Being a vegetarian can also cause fatty liver

Nowadays, "pay attention to a light diet" is probably the most common health advice we hear. Therefore, in the minds of many people, being a vegetarian has become a panacea for all diseases, as if as long as you don't eat meat, you are healthy. But is this really the case?

Some people found that their triglycerides were high during physical examinations, so they decided to become vegetarians. However, after a year of perseverance, they found that their fatty liver had worsened. They were very confused about this.

In fact, nutritionists have found through years of clinical statistics that long-term vegetarians are no less likely to suffer from high blood lipids and fatty liver than those who eat a normal diet. The reason is that vegetarian dishes taste bad and vegetarians add too much vegetable oil and seasonings to their dishes.

A true light diet refers to a reasonable combination of food based on food diversification. Its characteristics are to keep the original taste of food as much as possible, with a light taste, rich nutrition and easy digestion. The principles to be followed include: 1. Use a small amount of vegetable oil and ensure the diversification of oil. 2. Eat white meat and lean meat with less fat as much as possible. 3. Eat less salt and spicy food. 4. Use reasonable cooking methods to maximize the original taste and nutrition of food. 5. Control sugar intake and reduce fat synthesis.

Long-term single vegetarian diet will lead to insufficient protein intake. At this time, the human body will use the original fat components in the body to meet the body's needs through liver metabolism, which will cause fat to accumulate in the liver. Therefore, a light diet is not a restriction of diet, but to consume as comprehensive ingredients as possible, especially foods rich in high-quality protein. This is the only way to ensure the body's comprehensive nutrition. (Author: Nurse of the Health Management Department of Beijing Xuanwu Hospital)
