Unexplained palpitations, stomachaches, headaches, and insomnia may indicate anxiety disorder

Li and Huazi, who are in their twenties, complained that they always had heart palpitations, headaches, stomach problems, insomnia, and sometimes had difficulty breathing when lying in bed at night. He thought he had a serious illness, but he went to the hospital many times and did a lot of tests, but nothing was found. The doctor suggested that he go to a psychological clinic. He was confused, could he be mentally ill?

1. Anxiety state and anxiety disorder Huazi told Xiao Li that the doctor asked him to see a psychiatrist not because he was mentally ill, but because he suspected that he had anxiety disorder. When humans face stress, such as danger, work pressure, tense exams or competitions, they will enter an anxiety state.

When humans are in an anxious state, they can fully mobilize the functions of various organs in the body and improve the brain's reaction speed and alertness. Therefore, moderate anxiety has a positive effect on humans and can help us cope with various difficult situations with higher efficiency.

However, when people are in a state of anxiety for a long time, they will fall into pathological anxiety, which is called anxiety disorder. They will often and continuously experience tension and fear, and sometimes even extreme panic and a sense of impending death.

At the same time, the body will also experience various discomfort symptoms, such as palpitations, chest tightness, shortness of breath, headaches, insomnia, frequent urination, etc., and indigestion symptoms such as abdominal distension, diarrhea, constipation, etc. They will often lose their temper for no reason, have no interest and patience in anything, and affect their work and study.

2. Anxiety can affect health. Many people think that anxiety is an emotional problem, not a real disease. But in fact, anxiety can also affect health. For example, insomnia can lead to lack of sleep, which can cause mental fatigue and lack of attention. It can affect the autonomic nervous system, cause arrhythmia, induce high blood pressure and lead to cardiovascular disease.

Long-term anxiety can lead to indigestion, reduced appetite and reduced food intake. Nutritional imbalance can lead to reduced resistance, making it easy to be infected by pathogens and become sick. Anxiety disorders can also cause acute panic attacks, making people more fearful and nervous, forming a vicious cycle and making symptoms more and more serious.

III. Psychological Adjustment to Relieve Anxiety 1. Don’t “Take it for granted”: There is a lot of information about anxiety disorders on the Internet, and it is difficult for patients to distinguish right from wrong. Instead, they are more likely to “Take it for granted” according to this information, self-reinforce symptoms, and cause greater psychological pressure and burden. Therefore, it is not recommended for patients with anxiety disorders to search for information about anxiety disorders on their own before they have established good psychological defenses.

2. Distract yourself: If something in front of you makes you upset, but you are powerless to solve it, don't dwell on it or fight it, otherwise it will make you feel worse. For example, if you are frustrated in pursuing the opposite sex or are not appreciated by your boss, pestering or fighting will not solve the problem. It is better to divert your attention to learn a new skill and improve your own value.

3. Make a schedule: If you have a lot of things to do and feel anxious because you feel powerless to complete them, you might as well write down all the things to do and arrange them in order of difficulty. Start with the things that are easy and complete them one by one. This will make you more confident and gain a more positive mood.

4. Increase the amount of exercise: Exercise will cause the body to release endorphins, which can bind to the body's morphine receptors to produce analgesic effects and euphoria. Therefore, increasing the amount of exercise is the body's natural way to relieve pain and can relieve anxiety and depression.

4. Seek help from a psychologist. For those who have severe anxiety symptoms and find it difficult to get out of it by themselves, they need to seek help from a professional psychologist. Many people don’t quite understand why seeing a psychologist can cure the disease by just chatting with him/her. In fact, the “chatting” of psychologists is their unique professional skill, which has a very good effect on alleviating anxiety and depression.

In fact, for many people, a psychologist is the only listener who can frankly express their confusion and correctly understand their feelings. Without this "chat", their mood may be worse. Moreover, under the guidance of a psychologist, some anti-anxiety and anti-depressant drugs will be used for auxiliary treatment to help patients get a good mood faster.

Therefore, if you have unexplained panic, stomachache, headache and insomnia, it is very likely that you are suffering from anxiety. If self-psychological adjustment is not effective, you should find a psychologist in time to solve your problems. I am pharmacist Huazi, welcome to follow me and share more health knowledge.
