When to sow dianthus seeds

There are actually two ways to propagate dianthus. One is by sowing, which can be done around October in autumn. It is very easy to germinate. As long as the temperature reaches around 20 degrees, it will generally sprout a dozen days after sowing. If you water it in time to keep the soil in the pot moist, it will grow very fast.

Another way is division or cuttings. If you don’t want to sow seeds, division is also very easy. Just transplant the plants with a few roots into other pots and they will soon survive and bloom.

How to save dianthus seeds

If you want dianthus to produce seeds, you must first apply more fertilizer, especially during the flowering period, and apply more phosphorus and potassium fertilizers in time, and then maintain sufficient light. Generally, single-petal dianthus flowers are easier to produce seeds. Those planted outdoors do not need pollination and will grow seeds. When they are mature, you can pick the seeds. However, double-petal dianthus flowers are a variant species, so they are not easy to pollinate and produce seeds.
