What is the reason for diesel engine oil to turn white?

What is the reason for diesel engine oil to turn white?

The "usage environment" of a diesel engine is basically the same as that of a gasoline-powered car. Both require an engine and oil to lubricate the engine. So what is the problem if oil is leaking from the oil dipstick of a diesel engine?

What is the problem of diesel engine leaking oil?

1. The oil level rises, causing oil to leak out of the oil dipstick. The reasons for the increase in the oil level are: too much oil has been added, water has entered the oil, diesel has entered the oil, and hydraulic oil has entered the oil.

2. The breather is blocked, and the gas inside the oil pan cannot be discharged and exchanged with the outside world. The pressure inside the oil pan is too high, which will cause oil to flow out of the oil dipstick and even wash the oil dipstick away.

3. Wear of piston rings and cylinder liners, poor sealing between piston rings and cylinder liners, downward air rushing during compression, large downward exhaust, can also cause oil to leak out of the oil dipstick.

4. There is also a very rare situation where the oil dipstick interferes with the crankshaft and is knocked out during operation, causing oil to leak out of the oil dipstick opening.

Why does diesel engine oil turn white?

The diesel engine oil turns white, indicating that water has entered the oil, causing emulsification, so it will appear white. In this case, the oil needs to be replaced in time, otherwise it will affect the lubrication of the engine.

The following situations may be considered when water enters the engine oil:

1. Sand holes in the engine body. This is completely unpreventable and the failure is usually serious. The emulsification of the engine oil leads to the loss of lubrication ability, resulting in failures such as cylinder scuffing and tile burning.

2. Oil cooling module failure. The module has both water and oil channels inside. Internal penetration or poor gasket sealing will cause oil and water mixing.

3. The sealing of the joint surface where the oil channel and water channel are arranged on the cylinder head and cylinder block fails, such as the cylinder gasket.

4. Accessories such as air compressors that require cooling and lubrication at the same time cause the oil and water channels to be connected.

How to repair diesel engine oil water intrusion

1. First check whether the oil cooler sealing gasket is aging or damaged. If so, replace the sealing gasket;

2. Check the oil cooling core with water pressure to see if it is damaged. If so, repair or replace the oil cooler core with a new one.

3. If there is an air cooler, operate in the same way as 2;

4. For diesel engines used in special equipment, check whether there is water backflow into the engine, and clean it up in time if there is water backflow;

5. Check whether the cylinder liner sealing water-blocking rubber ring is aging or damaged. If so, replace it with a new one;

6. Check the water pressure test to see if the cylinder head is cracked. If so, replace it;

7. Check whether the diesel engine cylinder bed is flushed. If so, it needs to be replaced;

8. Check whether the injector water jacket is loose or damaged. If so, repair or replace it.
