Why does the engine light come on after filling up the car?

Whether you drive a car or a truck, you need to refuel on time. When the refueling light on the vehicle's dashboard lights up, it means you need to refuel the car quickly. Sometimes you will find that the oil light is still on after refueling, or the engine light is also on. So what's going on?

Why is the oil light still on after filling up the car?

It depends on the length of time. If it is abnormally bright once in a short period of time, it may be that the remaining oil level is too low and the oil float is stuck at the lowest position. In this case, after filling up the oil and passing over speed bumps or bumpy roads, the oil float will be brought up again and it will return to normal after a while.

If the light stays on for a long time before and after refueling, there is a problem, the elasticity of the oil mark in the fuel tank has failed or the sensor grounding wire is loose. This requires a professional mechanic to check and repair.

It is recommended not to fill the tank too full when refueling. Do not fill the tank to the point of overflowing just to get an integer. Filling the tank too full will not only cause oil to overflow from the vents during driving, posing a safety hazard, but will also clog the vents. Once the vents are clogged, the oil level will drop while the car is driving, and negative pressure will be generated in the tank, which will cause gas blockage in the gasoline pump, i.e., unstable fuel supply or even failure to supply fuel. At the same time, it is easy to cause the elasticity of the oil standard in the tank to fail.

Why does the engine light come on after filling up with fuel?

The gasoline quality is poor or the gasoline used is too low

It is recommended to go to a gas station with high traffic volume to fill up with higher-grade gasoline. If the car runs at high speed for a few minutes without shaking, it will generally recover within 2 days, otherwise check for other reasons.

Poor contact of oxygen sensor

The engine fault light is on, but when the car starts, as long as there is no shaking, pausing, exhaust pipe smoke and other symptoms, it is safe to drive. Generally, it can be considered that it is due to poor combustion, resulting in poor contact with the oxygen sensor. Increase the engine speed, clean the oil circuit, or change a fuel, and it will generally return to normal after a period of time.

Engine failure

It is usually caused by oil, but the throttle, solenoid valve, sensor and carbon deposits are not excluded. If the above two methods do not work, it is recommended to use the vehicle computer to detect the fault code to solve the problem!

Should I refuel my car with Sinopec or PetroChina?

Both types of gasoline can be added with confidence, and the oil products are of the same national standards, so the quality is guaranteed.

The biggest difference between the two is the density of the oil. Sinopec's oil density is slightly higher than PetroChina's. If the density is higher, the same volume of gasoline is heavier and more resistant to combustion. Therefore, for the same tank of oil, we can find that Sinopec's oil burns longer.

It is recommended that you stick to the same brand of gasoline fuel. After all, the crude oil used is different, and the processing technology and additives used are also different. The engine may experience slight vibrations due to oil changes, and carbon deposits are more likely to form.
