Why does the car exhaust pipe have a burning smell? Why does the car exhaust pipe have a gasoline smell?

The exhaust pipe of a car is where the car discharges the exhaust gas produced when the gasoline is burned. It contains various harmful gases. Car exhaust generally has a smell, so what is the situation when the car exhaust pipe has a burnt smell? Is it normal?

Why does the car exhaust have a burning smell?

1. Normally, in a new car, the exhaust system will have a burning smell during use. This is due to the volatile gas formed by the glass fiber silencer material in the exhaust pipe at high temperature.

2. After a period of normal use, the same volatile gas will also appear under sudden acceleration or climbing conditions due to the rapid increase in temperature.

Why does the car exhaust pipe smell like gasoline?

It is normal for the exhaust gas of a car to have a gasoline smell when it is cold-started. This is because the engine does not burn completely when the water temperature is low, and some unburned gasoline will be discharged from the exhaust pipe. At the same time, in order to start the engine smoothly at low temperatures, the engine computer will increase the fuel supply to maintain the engine speed, which will increase the generation of gasoline smell.

Another reason is that the three-way catalytic converter has not entered the working state under low temperature conditions, so the exhaust gas is discharged directly without being treated. When the engine water temperature reaches normal and there is no gasoline smell, the engine is normal.

If your car smells like gasoline whether it is hot or cold start, then you need to check your car. In addition, when the accelerator is accelerated, it should also be accompanied by the symptom of black smoke coming out of the exhaust. This is too much fuel injection, and the fault can be detected and analyzed by computer.

Why does the car exhaust smell like burning plastic?

Due to the high temperature of the engine exhaust pipe, some flammable components and circuit wires are installed around the exhaust pipe when designing the vehicle, ensuring the safe use of electrical components and preventing vehicle spontaneous combustion accidents.

The most likely reason for the plastic smell in the car exhaust pipe is that the wheels roll up plastic and rubber products on the road and wrap them around the exhaust pipe when the vehicle is driving. Or when the vehicle is stopped, plastic products on the ground are wrapped around the exhaust pipe under the action of external force. The plastic wrapped around the exhaust pipe melts and decomposes under the action of the high temperature of the exhaust pipe and produces a pungent plastic smell.
