Why don't car fog lights choose red? What's the problem when the rear fog lights don't light up?

Car fog lights are usually used in foggy, rainy and snowy weather when visibility is low, mainly to warn of risks. Car fog lights are usually yellow or warm white, but not red, green or other colors.

Why don't car fog lights choose red?

The light of a car's fog lights is yellow.

Red light has the longest wavelength, so our traffic lights will choose red light, even in fog or rainy days, red light has good penetration. Yellow light has a wavelength second only to red light. Yellow light not only has good penetration, but also depends on people's psychological suggestion to a certain extent, which naturally makes people want to slow down.

Yellow light is between green light and red light. Green light has weaker penetration than yellow light. Green light can make people feel comfortable visually. Therefore, red light and green light are both traffic lights. Yellow light only has a certain warning effect. It has good penetration, so it can be used to make fog lights. Red light is not chosen as fog light because it is easy to get excited and cause accidents.

But now yellow fog lights are not common anymore, having been replaced by relatively advanced halogen bulbs. The lighting color has also become warm white, which can meet the conditions for the use of fog lights and is also suitable for vehicle auxiliary lighting.

What is the problem of the rear fog light not lighting up?

The two rear fog lights share a fuse. If one fog light does not turn on, the fog light is most likely burned out. If both rear fog lights do not turn on, it is unlikely that both fog lights will burn out at the same time. We should find the fuse of the rear fog light and turn on the rear fog light switch. Use a test light to check whether there is electricity at both ends of the fuse. In this case, there are three situations:

1. There is electricity at both ends. At this time, we need to remove the rear fog bulb for inspection. In most cases, the bulb is burned out.

2. Only one end of the fuse is in the ON state, that is, the fuse is blown. In this case, the fuse needs to be replaced and the circuit needs to be checked, because the fuse is caused by excessive current. According to the circuit diagram, please check whether there is a broken skin and ground short circuit.

3. There is no electricity at both ends, focus on checking whether the rear fog light switch and relay are disconnected. If there is no problem, there may be other problems, such as wires, computer boards, etc. This depends on the results of the on-site inspection.

What to do if there is water accumulation in the fog lights of your car

First, see whether there is water or fog in the light.

If it is water, first determine why the water entered, whether it is due to damage or poor sealing. If the damage can be repaired, repair it, if not, replace it. If the seal is not good, check whether the back cover of the lamp is installed correctly, and then check the position of the sealant. If necessary, re-seal it.

If it is fog, it is relatively simple. The fogging phenomenon is caused by high air humidity or a poorly sealed cover. Turn on the heat from the bulb and the fog will evaporate. Or open the back cover of the lamp and blow it dry with a hair dryer. Then check if the cover is in place and check if the vents are facing downwards (there are vents on each lamp, black L-shaped hoses).
