Itchy belly button during pregnancy

Pregnant women need extra care during pregnancy, because many human body manifestations also reflect the health status of the fetus. Today, the editor needs to introduce to everyone, what is the reason for the itchy belly button of pregnant women? What should pregnant women do if their belly buttons itch?

What causes itchy belly button during pregnancy?

1. It may be the reason for the skin to expand: During pregnancy, women's endocrine, metabolism and immune ability will change, and the skin will also undergo corresponding physiological changes. The abdominal skin is stretched by the enlarged uterus, and the elastic fibers of the skin are stretched, forming stretch marks, and the areas where the stretch marks are located will feel itchy.

2. It may be a pregnancy skin disease: more than 15% of pregnant women may encounter this type of skin disease. Itching may occur all over the body, usually during the sixth or seventh month of pregnancy. Except for the itching feeling, there is no other change on the skin, and small papules and blisters are not likely to appear. The cause of the disease is generally believed to be related to the increase in female hormones during pregnancy and has no effect on the fetus.

3. It may be prurigo or eczema: About 2% of pregnant women may suffer from this disease, which usually occurs between the 4th and 9th months of pregnancy. A rash of small red spots appears on the skin, most often on the limbs, and looks like an insect bite. Pruritus is caused by the pregnant mother's rejection of the part of the genes and sex chromosomes in the child's body that comes from the father. In addition to abdominal itching, rashes and itching may occur at the roots of the thighs and even the upper limbs, and some may also have pigmentation.

What to do if your belly button itches during pregnancy

1. Underwear should be clean, soft , loose and comfortable, preferably made of pure cotton. When using electric blankets for heating in winter, the temperature should not be too high and the usage time should not be too long.

2. The bath temperature does not need to be too high, and the soaking time should not be too long. Do not use strong alkaline soap. It is best to apply some moisturizer after washing.

3. The diet should include more fruits, vegetables, and foods rich in vitamin D (such as lean meat, protein foods, carrots, broccoli, and beans).

4. Patients with itchy skin should pay attention to eating less spicy food and irritating food, such as dream, wine, chili pepper, pepper, garlic, onion, mustard sauce, ginger slices, freshly ground coffee, etc.

5. The diet should be light in taste and eat less high-fat foods. This is because high-fat foods will increase the pressure of skin oil, especially the pores on the surface of the skin are prone to blockage; sugar foods should also be eaten less, too much sugar can increase the growth of bacteria on the skin, irritate the skin, and cause itching.

Can pregnant women pick their belly buttons?

Pregnant women can clean their belly buttons, but they should not pick their belly buttons for no reason, especially without washing their hands and disinfecting them, and it is strictly forbidden to pick them with force. The navel is the area closest to the internal organs and the outside world. If it is infected, it will cause digestive discomfort, that is, stomach pain. If you pick it hard, the belly button will easily cause bleeding. In addition, the area around the belly button is where bacteria gather. If the skin is broken, it will cause omphalitis in a serious case. Once it becomes malignant, it may become festered and bacteria may invade the important blood vessels in the abdomen. If you get omphalitis during pregnancy, it is not only easy to cause miscarriage, but the bacterial infection will also affect the development of the fetus. Therefore, pregnant women should never touch their belly buttons casually.
