How did Chengdu get its name?

Chengdu is a Diqiang language. "Cheng" is the name of the Shu people, meaning people from the plateau; "Du" means region, place, that is, the place where the "Cheng" people are. As for the origin of the name Chengdu, according to the "Taiping Huanyu Ji", it was borrowed from the historical process of the establishment of the capital in the Western Zhou Dynasty, "King Tai of Zhou went from Liangshan to Qishan, and built a town in one year, and Chengdu in three years, so it was named Chengdu".

The word "Chengdu" is a transliteration of the Shu language by the people of the Central Plains. At that time, the ancient Shu people called their capital (Chengdu) "dudu", which means the capital of Shu, because the ancient pronunciation of "Shu" is "du". The Han people in the Central Plains transliterated the capital of Shu as "Chengdu", which means that it was the last city of Shu. Although the sunset was beautiful, it was almost dusk. Not long after the Kaiming Dynasty of ancient Shu moved its capital, the Qin Dynasty's iron cavalry crushed the Kaiming Dynasty's beautiful dream, and the history of ancient Shu also came to an end. Therefore, Chengdu is the "last city";

In ancient Shu, Cancong invented the city wall, so the Cancong tribe was also called "Chongyong". With the change of dynasties, in the Kaiming Dynasty of ancient Shu, the tribe was still called "Chongyong" or "Yongcheng", abbreviated as "Cheng"; and "du" means nothing more than "a place where people gather is also called a capital", so the capital of the Kaiming Dynasty was called "Chengdu".
