37 weeks increased vaginal discharge

37 weeks increased vaginal discharge

During pregnancy, many pregnant mothers pay great attention to their bodies and also have regular prenatal checkups. The 37th week of pregnancy has entered the late pregnancy and the possibility of delivery at any time. Due to hormones and pregnancy reasons, there will be a physiological increase in leucorrhea. It is normal if there is no other physical discomfort. This situation does not require special treatment, but the following abnormal leucorrhea needs to be taken seriously.

As the amount of vaginal discharge increases during pregnancy, if you notice abnormal changes in its color, texture, and smell, you must not be careless. For the health of you and your baby, you should go to a regular hospital for relevant examinations and treatments in time, because these symptoms are often signs of gynecological inflammation.

After pregnancy, the corpus luteum of the ovary secretes a large amount of estrogen and progesterone to maintain the implantation and development of the fertilized egg. After 12 weeks, the placenta is formed, which gradually replaces the corpus luteum and continues to synthesize large amounts of estrogen and progesterone. Therefore, the pregnant woman's body always maintains a high estrogen and progesterone state. As a result, estrogen and progesterone-dependent cells undergo significant changes: the vulvar tissue becomes soft and moist, the vaginal epithelium thickens, the blood vessels become congested, the exudate and desquamated cells increase, the cervix becomes enlarged, soft and congested, and the glandular secretion becomes vigorous. The secretions of the cervical glands, vaginal exudate and exfoliated cells mix together to form leucorrhea, which will be continuously discharged from the body during pregnancy. If the amount of vaginal discharge increases after pregnancy and is accompanied by vulvar itching and a special odor, you should go to the hospital for a gynecological examination.
