What is the reason for the old yellow leaves of the cold water flower? How to remedy the yellow leaves of the cold water flower

Pile plant is very common in our daily life. Because of its high ornamental value and its ability to eliminate oil fume pollution, it is the first choice for many families to grow flowers. However, many people always have problems with some details when growing it, and the leaves of the Pile plant turn yellow. Here, the editor will share with you some tips on growing Pile plant, hoping it will be helpful to you.

What's the matter with the old yellow leaves of Pilea coleus

1. Excessive watering. Frequent watering or too much water will cause waterlogging in the soil. In this case, the plant cannot breathe and will gradually turn into yellow leaves. Reduce the frequency and amount of watering, and ventilate and loosen the soil more.

2. Sunburn caused by strong sunlight. Although it likes sunlight, it cannot be exposed to direct sunlight. In summer, strong sunlight must be blocked.

3. Improper fertilization. High fertilizer concentration or excessive fertilizer will cause fertilizer damage. It should be rinsed with clean water and drained.

Watering

The cool water plant likes a humid growing environment and needs to maintain sufficient water during maintenance, but be careful not to water it too frequently. If watering too frequently causes water accumulation, the roots of the cool water plant will rot and the leaves will turn yellow before nutrients are replenished. If water accumulation occurs, we need to drain the accumulated water in time, then increase ventilation and allow the water to evaporate quickly.

Maintaining Temperature

Pile plant likes a warm growing environment. The most suitable temperature for its growth is between 15 and 25 degrees. Its cold resistance is relatively poor. The temperature needs to be kept above 5 degrees in winter. If the temperature is lower than 5 degrees, its leaves will be frostbitten, resulting in yellow leaves. Therefore, areas in the north where the temperature is relatively low in winter need to take warming measures in advance.

Avoid exposure to the sun

Coleus likes sunlight, but it also has a strong ability to tolerate shade. However, in order to make it grow better, we’d better keep it in sufficient light, but avoid exposing it to strong sunlight, otherwise the leaves of the coleus will be sunburned, resulting in yellow leaves. If it is accidentally sunburned, we must promptly transfer the coleus to a cool and ventilated environment to recover.

How to grow cool water flowers

1. Light management: Pilea is an indoor flower with beautiful leaves. It is shade-tolerant, but prefers sufficient light and should avoid direct sunlight. Place the flower pot in the north window in summer and in the south window in winter. If the light is too dark, the color of the leaves will fade; if the sunlight is too strong, the leaves will be burned.

2. Fertilizer and water management: Follow the principle of moisture management. Keep the pot soil dry but not cracked, moist but not wet. In summer, spray water on the leaves frequently to keep them clean and shiny. Spray less water on the leaves in winter, otherwise black spots will appear on the leaves, or even turn black and rot. Water with 280% or 370% nitrogen liquid fertilizer every two weeks during the growing season to make the plants strong. Apply phosphorus and potassium fertilizers in autumn to strengthen the stems and prevent lodging.

3. Propagation is mostly done by cuttings, which can be done in spring and autumn. In May, the top of the stem is used as cuttings for small families. The medium is river sand or vermiculite. Under suitable temperature conditions (20℃ to 25℃), roots will grow in about 10 days. When the new shoots are 3 cm to 5 cm long, they are potted with sandy soil. Water them enough to establish roots and then transfer to normal management.
