How to take a bus to Hengshan

High-speed rail: The Beijing-Guangzhou High-speed Railway, Hunan-Guangxi High-speed Railway, and Shanghai-Kunming High-speed Railway are all open. Passengers from all over the country can take the high-speed rail directly to Nanyue Hengshan Mountain, get off at Hengyang East Station, and take the Hengyang Central Bus Station or Wangjiang Bus Station to the Nanyue tourist line, the entire journey is 32 kilometers.

Train: Take the train to Hengyang Railway Station on the Beijing-Guangzhou Railway, Hunan-Guangxi Railway, or Hengchaji Railway. The fare is RMB 10. You can first take a bus to Chongsheng Jingzhu Square. There are minibuses next to the square to Nanyue District. The fare is RMB 10.

Self-driving: Beijing-Hong Kong-Macao Expressway, Tanheng Expressway, Henggui Expressway, Hengshao Expressway, Hengkun Expressway, Hengyan Expressway, and take the Nanyue Expressway to reach Nanyue Hengshan Scenic Area.

Bus: 2, 3, 6

Taxi: When telling the driver where you want to go, you should say [Nanyue Hengshan Scenic Area] instead of [Hengshan], because locally [Hengshan] refers to Hengshan County, and the two places are very different.

How to travel to Hengshan in winter

-3°C, I wore a thick fleece thermal coat, a thin sweatshirt, a down jacket, fleece thermal pants and snow boots.

After exiting Hengshan West Station, there is a bus to Nanyue Hengshan Scenic Area on the right hand side. It costs 6 yuan per person and the journey takes about 10 to 15 minutes.

Tickets: 80 yuan + 3 yuan insurance

Crampons are very useful. Many people sell them on the roadside for 10 yuan a pair. The road surface on the mountain is icy, and it is impossible to walk without crampons. It is easy to slip.

Transportation on the mountain: Banshan Pavilion, Nantianmen (cable car) round trip 58 yuan * 2

Note: You must prepare cash to buy cable car tickets. You cannot pay by mobile phone. Although there is an instruction next to it that you can buy tickets by QR code, it cannot be used‼ ️

There is also a bus stop at Nantianmen to go down the mountain, but I don't know the price. If the weather is too bad, the cable car and bus will stop operating. If you don't want to climb the mountain, remember to choose a place to stay in Banshanting‼ ️Go straight out and take the cable car. After the cable car arrives at Nantianmen, the left side is the Folk Culture City, about 2 kilometers away. To the right is Zhurong Peak, about 3 kilometers away.

Tips:

1. Snow boots get wet easily after the ice and snow melt. Buy heating insoles in advance and stuff them into the shoes. This will warm your feet and absorb the moisture in the shoes.

2. Be sure to bring a power bank‼ ️The weather is cold and the battery of your mobile phone will be consumed very quickly.

3. Just carry a backpack, don’t drag a suitcase

4. Bring enough dry food. There is only one small shop on the top of Zhurong Peak. There is no food on the way. There is no small shop on the way to Folk Customs Town.

What should you pay attention to when traveling to Hengshan

1. Hengshan Mountain has an altitude of 1,290 meters. There are many trees on the mountain and the temperature is lower than that at the foot of the mountain. If you do not go there in summer, please pay attention to keep warm, especially for hikers who camp overnight.

2. When going up the mountain, try to bring as little heavy luggage as possible except for necessary supplies. It takes several hours to walk up the mountain, so don't be too confident in your physical strength.

3. There are some remote paths on the mountain. If you are not traveling with a group, it is best not to try them. First, the route deviates far from the main line, and second, it may not be very safe.
