French beans, also known as beans, lentils or kidney beans, are plants of the genus Phaseolus in the family Fabaceae. Although they are called French beans, they cannot be planted in all seasons, because they are very sensitive to frost, so they must be planted after the frost ends.

If you want to plant outdoors, in the south, the suitable period for sowing is generally from March to August. From sowing to harvesting, the general growth cycle of green beans is about 50-60 days. Therefore, if planted properly, green beans can basically be harvested from May to October. The duration is longer than that of most legumes. This may be the reason why green beans got their name.
