How to be clean when having white lochia

White lochia refers to the stubborn postpartum lochia that usually occurs within 3 to 7 days after giving birth, and contains necrotic decidual tissue, female secretions and bacteria. The lochia of a parturient is usually stubborn postpartum lochia within 3 to 7 days after giving birth. It is large in amount, bright red in color, and contains a lot of blood, mucus and necrotic decidual tissue, and has a fishy smell.

Later, with the repair of the uterine wall, the bleeding gradually decreases and becomes serous lochia, which is less in amount and lighter in shape, contains less blood, and relatively more cervical mucus, which contains necrotic decidual tissue, female secretions and bacteria. After about 2 to 4 weeks, it turns into milky white or light yellow, called white lochia, and the amount becomes less and less, and there is no blood. It usually lasts about 3 weeks.

How long does it take for white lochia to be clean?

1. Stubborn postpartum lochia: bright red in color, contains a lot of blood, large amount, and sometimes small blood clots. There are small amounts of fetal membranes and necrotic decidual tissue. Stubborn lochia lasts for 3 to 4 days, the amount of abnormal uterine bleeding gradually decreases, the serum increases, and it changes into serous lochia.

2. Light red in color and contains too much pulp. A small amount of blood, but a large amount of necrotic decidual tissue, cervical mucus, intrauterine exudate, and pathogens. Serous lochia lasts about 10 days, the serum level gradually decreases, the white blood cells increase, and the lochia becomes white lochia.

3. White lochia: thick and white in color. Contains a lot of white blood cell counts, necrotic tissue decidua, epidermal cells and bacteria, etc. The white lochia lasted for 3 weeks.

Under normal circumstances, postpartum lochia has a fishy smell but no peculiar smell. It lasts for 4 to 6 weeks, with a total output of about 250-500ml, with great individual differences. By observing the lochia after delivery, paying attention to the changes in its quality and quantity, color and smell, as well as the state of uterine repair, we can understand whether the uterine repair is normal.
