Causes of heel pain in middle-aged women

Causes of heel pain in middle-aged women

There are two reasons for women's heel pain. First, middle-aged women have excessive bone loss, which leads to osteoporosis, and then it is easy to cause bone hyperplasia, which stimulates the surrounding muscles and tendons and often causes obvious pain. CT scans and laboratory tests can confirm the diagnosis. The second point is plantar fasciitis. Long-term weight-bearing labor, strenuous activities, and long-term shopping often cause damage to the soft tissues of the plantar muscles, tendons, and soft tissues. It is a non-suppurative inflammation and can be relieved by bed rest and application of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs.

There are many ways to treat heel pain. Patients should establish a diagnosis and find out the cause of the pain before using medication. It is recommended to choose conservative treatment first, such as acupuncture therapy, infrared induction, hot compress, topical medication, plaster, and non-steroidal analgesics. Most patients' symptoms can be significantly alleviated. If conservative treatment has little effect on the patient and the pain is significant, which seriously affects the quality of life, surgical treatment can be chosen, such as growth hormone blockade therapy. However, this type of treatment is generally not recommended, and some patients may even experience increased pain after blockade therapy.

Heel pain is usually caused by heel spurs, arthritis, plantar fasciitis, or ankle fracture synovitis. Most of the above symptoms will cause heel swelling and pain, accompanied by pressure or pricking pain, and the pain will be significantly aggravated when walking.

When heel pain occurs, you should try to choose softer-soled shoes in your daily life, wash your feet with warm water at night, and massage the soles of your feet. In addition, you can also take some anti-inflammatory and analgesic drugs to help relieve it, such as ibuprofen or chlorzoxazone tablets.
