What organ in the body is connected to the belly button?

The belly button is an organ that everyone has. During the mother's pregnancy, the fetus is inside the mother, and one end of the fetal umbilical cord is connected to the fetus's intestines and bladder, and the other end is connected to the embryo. The fetus absorbs various nutrients through the umbilical cord, and also excretes waste products, namely meconium, through the umbilical cord. Then, about 10 months after the pregnancy, the mother gives birth. After the baby is born, the doctor cuts the umbilical cord, disinfects it and then ties it up. After about 7 days, the umbilical cord falls off, forming a belly button. However, the belly button is still connected to the stomach, intestines and bladder, called the urachus and yolk duct. However, they have long been closed and do not communicate with each other. If they are connected, it means the urachus or yolk duct is not closed.

During the fetal stage, the umbilical cord at the belly button is connected to the embryo at one end and to the liver at the other end, with the umbilical artery and umbilical vein inside. When a newborn is born, the umbilical artery and umbilical vein at the belly button gradually close to form the round ligament. Therefore, under normal circumstances, the belly button is connected to the liver, and no other organs are attached to the belly button.

If the patient has a history of abdominal surgery and adhesions form in the abdomen, the navel may be connected to the colon or the retina. If intestinal adhesion or intestinal obstruction occurs, paroxysmal abdominal pain may occur, and may also be accompanied by nausea, vomiting, and other symptoms. Abdominal plain film examination showed fluid level in the colon, and hospitalization and antibiotic treatment were required.

The lower left corner of the navel refers to the left lower abdomen. The internal organs in the left lower abdomen include part of the colon, transverse colon, descending colon, sigmoid colon, left kidney, left urethra, and the left uterus, ovary and bilateral fallopian tubes of women, and the left seminal tract of men. The nine-point abdominal method requires two straight lines and two vertical lines to divide the abdomen into 9 areas. The upper horizontal line is the connecting line of the lowest values of the outer edges of the two costal arches, the lower straight line is the connecting line of the two anterior superior iliac spines, and the two vertical lines are the vertical lines made based on the anterior superior iliac spines and the midline of the abdomen, so it is said that the above internal organs are located in the lower left abdomen.
