Can syphilis heal on its own?

Syphilis is a multi-system, diffuse genital tract infection caused by Treponema pallidum. Treponema pallidum can accumulate in almost every organ of the human body and can cause different symptoms and signs. Syphilis infection during pregnancy can be transmitted to the fetus through the embryo, causing miscarriage, premature birth, stillbirth and congenital syphilis, etc., causing great harm. So, can syphilis be cured?

Syphilis is not easily cured and must be treated promptly. If the disease develops into tertiary syphilis, some internal organs have already suffered irreversible damage, and treatment cannot restore them. However, most cases of primary and secondary syphilis can be cured. The treatment drugs are very simple, and penicillins are generally preferred, with better effects, such as powdered penicillin, procaine penicillin, benzathine penicillin, etc. For some patients who are allergic to penicillin, tetracycline or erythromycin can be used.

However, the treatment of syphilis takes a long time. It usually takes about 2-3 years to observe from the beginning of treatment. In the first year after effective treatment, a serological follow-up is required every three months to observe the treatment of the disease. If the disease is well controlled, follow-up visits can be made every six months in the 2nd to 3rd year. If 3-4 tests are repeated during the follow-up process and the results are all normal, syphilis can be considered cured.

Symptomatic treatment and medication recommendations for syphilis: Patients infected with Treponema pallidum should be detected, diagnosed and treated early, and recovery is effective. The longer the illness lasts, the greater the damage to the human body. Patients infected with syphilis are generally treated with penicillin as the main treatment. They must take the medicine as soon as possible, in a certain amount, and in a standardized manner. The drugs that can be used include benzathine penicillin or procaine penicillin. If the patient is allergic to penicillin, cephalosporin drugs can be used for treatment, such as ceftriaxone sodium. Tetracycline hydrochloride, doxycycline hydrochloride and other drugs can also be used for treatment. The drugs must be used under the guidance of a doctor and according to the treatment process standards.
