Is it okay if the TCT test is positive?

TCT is the general name for liquid-based cytology testing. TCT testing uses a liquid-based cytology testing network to detect cervical cells and perform cytological classification and diagnosis. It is currently the most advanced cervical cancer cell cytology examination technology in the world. The TCT cervical cancer cell examination has a 100% diagnostic rate for cervical tumor cells. It can also detect precancerous lesions and microbial infections such as fungi, Trichomonas, and mycoplasma. Is TCT positive cervical cancer?

Although the TCT test is positive, it cannot be simply said that it is cervical cancer based on this point, so there is no need to worry too much. At this time, it is recommended that the patient undergo an HPV virus infection analysis test. HPV16 is a high-risk type. TCT shows a high degree of lesions and a high possibility of precancerous lesions, so a puncture biopsy must be performed early and observation is not possible. The next step in treatment will be determined based on the confirmed pathophysiology.

In addition, if necessary, a cervical puncture biopsy can be considered. This examination can make a pathological diagnosis, and the pathological diagnosis will be the final diagnosis. The results of the cervical puncture biopsy can then be used to decide whether conservative treatment with medication or other methods such as cervical conization surgery are needed.

When the TCT test is positive, the probability of each level of precancerous lesions is generally more than 40%, while the probability of invasive cancer is relatively small, approximately between 1-2%. To establish a definitive diagnosis, the first step is to perform a colposcopy, and under the guidance of the colposcopy, perform a cervical puncture biopsy to obtain a pathophysiological diagnosis. We have turned cytology (TCT), colposcopy, and pathology into a three-step diagnostic process for cervical cancer, and pathophysiological diagnosis is the gold standard.
