Where is the cervix located?

To be honest, if we hadn't studied medicine, most of us ordinary people would have no idea what our body structure is like. Apart from knowing the facial features and other parts, we might know nothing else. Even for girls, we don't know where the cervix is, which is very familiar to us. So, let us understand together, where is the cervical opening?

Where is the cervix located?

The cervix is located below the uterus, is cone-shaped, 2.5 to 3 cm long, connected to the uterine body above and deep in the vagina below. In layman's terms, it means the cervix, which connects the vagina and uterus. The specific location is located in the shallow layer of the vagina and adjacent to the uterus.

The position of the external cervical opening in the vagina determines the type of uterine position. The normal position of the uterus in an adult woman is a slightly extended and flexed position. "Tilt" refers to the angle between the short axis of the uterine body and the short axis of the vagina; "flexion" refers to the angle between the short axis of the uterine body and the short axis of the cervix. Normal extension means that the uterus and the vagina form an angle of inclination that opens forward and is similar to an oblique angle; normal flexion means that the uterus and the cervix form a flexion angle of about 170° that opens forward. The external cervical opening and both lips touch the inner posterior wall of the vagina.

Various physiological or pathological factors can cause changes in the angle of "tilt" and "flexion" of the uterus, resulting in different types of uterine displacement: anterior displacement (extension, flexion, extension-flexion), posterior displacement (retroverted tilt, retroflexion, retrotilt-retroflexion and horizontal position) and lateral displacement (lateral tilt, lateral flexion, lateral tilt and lateral flexion), etc.

Causes of cervicitis

Chronic cervicitis occurs after acute cervicitis or after damage to the cervix during childbirth, miscarriage, or surgery. The main pathogens are Staphylococcus, Streptococcus, Escherichia coli and Pseudomonas aeruginosa, followed by Gonorrhea, Tuberculosis, and Plasmodium including Trichomonas and Hemeba. In special cases, it is caused by chemical compounds and radiation. The clinical manifestations of this disease are mainly cervical erosion, cervical hypertrophy, cervical polyps, cervical gland swelling and endocervicitis.

The cervix is the main reproductive organ of women. The general location of the cervix is the area where sexual intercourse occurs. It connects the vagina and uterus and is the main channel for sperm to enter. Do you have some insight now? In the future, you can understand any problems immediately, and then get treatment as soon as possible and get better as soon as possible.
