How much weight is normal during the fifth month of pregnancy

Weight gain during pregnancy has always been a topic of concern and discussion for many pregnant women. In fact, during pregnancy, there is a standard of weight gain every month, which will naturally vary due to the differences in each person's physical fitness. In the early stages of pregnancy, some pregnant women have obvious pregnancy reactions, and their weight is more likely to decrease instead of increase. In the middle of pregnancy, that is, around April to June, there will be a certain increase in weight. So how many kilograms will you generally gain in May?

How much weight do you gain in May?

Generally speaking, a weight gain of around 12.5KG during the entire pregnancy is normal. You will gain about 7 or 8 pounds during the 5th month of pregnancy. However, everyone's actual situation is different, and the requirements for weight gain during pregnancy are also different.

Generally, we will make appropriate recommendations for weight gain during pregnancy based on the pregnant woman's weight before pregnancy. If the pregnant woman's weight has exceeded the standard before pregnancy and her body mass index (BMI) has exceeded 25, we recommend that the total weight gain during pregnancy be controlled within 7-10KG. If the body mass index before pregnancy is normal, belonging to the range of 18-25, the weight gain during pregnancy can be controlled to about 12.5KG. If a pregnant woman is too thin before pregnancy, her weight gain during pregnancy can be increased appropriately.

Moreover, the weight gain rate is different at different stages of pregnancy.

During early pregnancy, that is, the first three months of pregnancy, because the baby develops slowly, the mother does not need to take in a lot of additional nutrients. In addition, some pregnant women have significant early pregnancy reactions in the early stages of pregnancy, vomiting severely, and are unwilling to eat. At this time, not only is it difficult to increase weight, but it may even decrease.

During the second trimester of pregnancy, that is, from 12th to 28th week of pregnancy, the early pregnancy reaction is significantly improved and the mother can eat well. At this time, the baby has grown significantly, so there will be a weight gain. Generally, the weight gain will be about 0.25-0.35 kg per week, and the total weight gain during pregnancy will be about 5 kg.

During the late pregnancy, the fetus grows significantly faster, and the weight of the embryo, amniotic fluid, etc. also increases. Especially around 32 weeks, you will feel that the abdomen has grown significantly. It is generally recommended that the weight gain during late pregnancy should not exceed 1KG per week, otherwise it is necessary to check for edema and other conditions.

In fact, the amount of weight gain and the speed at which each person gains weight are somewhat different. If you feel that the weight gain is too little, you need to regularly check the uterine height, fetal abdominal circumference or B-ultrasound. If the fetus is growing well, there is no need to worry.
