How serious is nt2.6?

Among the series of tests during pregnancy, the NT value is one of the indispensable tests. Because most people are unfamiliar with this test, when this indicator is found to be abnormal, they usually don’t know what the cause is. The abnormality of NT value must cause everyone's great attention. So is it normal for pregnant women to have a NT value as high as 2.6?

Is it normal for pregnant women to have a high NT value of 2.6?

Generally speaking, when the NT value is <2.5mm, it is judged to be normal. When the fetal NT value (neck translucency) is greater than or equal to 2.5mm, it can be judged as the thickening of the neck translucency. The degree of thickening of the neck translucency is closely related to fetal abnormalities. The more obvious the thickening of the nuchal translucency, the higher the chance of fetal abnormality and the more serious the degree of abnormality.

The NT test is a test method used to check whether the fetus has Down syndrome, and it is also widely believed to be related to chromosomal abnormalities.

Unlike confirmatory tests such as chorionic villus aspiration or amniocentesis, the NT test will have a clear diagnosis, that is, a confirmed chromosome karyotype. The color Doppler ultrasound examination of the nuchal translucency depends on the doctor's diagnostic experience and the sensitivity of the B-ultrasound equipment. It is a screening test, and the results obtained can remind pregnant women to further choose which test is more appropriate.

If repeated accurate measurements are higher than the standard value, it is recommended that pregnant mothers can do amniocentesis, check sex chromosomes, and do Down syndrome screening to see if there are any abnormalities.

In addition, it should be emphasized here that expectant mothers should maintain an optimistic attitude when doing NT examination. If the baby is not very cooperative, you can walk a little before the examination.

What is the reason for high NT value in pregnant women

1. Babies with Down syndrome. About 75% of babies with Down syndrome are correctly identified this way.

2. Congenital heart disease. The nuchal translucency of a fetus with congenital heart disease will become thicker.

3. Other functional deformities. Because the main organs of the fetus have basically formed at 12 weeks of pregnancy, more than 80% of malformed fetuses have begun to form before 12 weeks of pregnancy.

Abnormal results of nt value test usually indicate abnormal development of the baby. In this case, the expectant mother needs to conduct further tests under the guidance of a doctor to determine the true cause of the abnormal nt value. In order to prevent abnormal development of the baby during pregnancy, the mother must pay attention to the maintenance and conditioning of all aspects of daily life during pregnancy.
