There are many examinations during pregnancy. From the beginning of pregnancy, you need to undergo various different examinations. Prenatal examinations are obviously very important during pregnancy. Glucose tolerance is a necessary test during pregnancy and is also a criterion for diagnosing the health of pregnant women. So now let's learn how to do the pregnancy glucose tolerance test? Below is a simple understanding and understanding of this issue. I hope the following points will be helpful to everyone!

The purpose of glucose tolerance testing during pregnancy is to determine whether the pregnant woman has gestational diabetes. Because if you develop diabetes or have abnormal glycolysis during pregnancy, it may cause miscarriage, high blood pressure during pregnancy, or cause complications such as infection and premature birth, which is very bad for both adults and fetuses. Therefore, you should pay attention to the test of glucose tolerance during pregnancy.

The test of glucose tolerance during pregnancy is usually carried out by taking oral glucose on an empty stomach. There are no diet and activity restrictions on pregnant women for at least three days before the test. The test is usually carried out in the morning. Generally, venous blood sampling is used to test the fasting blood sugar index 12 hours after fasting. Then the pregnant women are asked to drink 300 ml of water with 75 grams of glucose within five minutes. The blood sugar concentration is tested one hour, two hours, and three hours after taking the red bean sugar water.

Eating and smoking are not allowed during the entire inspection process. One of the common complications during pregnancy is abnormal glycolysis, which can be divided into two conditions: gestational diabetes and impaired glucose tolerance during pregnancy. The first type can be diagnosed as gestational diabetes, while the second type only indicates that the blood sugar level is unstable, close to normal and between abnormal, and the condition is not completely healthy.

When going to the hospital for an OGTT, you should fast for 8 to 14 hours. For example, if you do an OGTT test at around 8 o'clock in the morning, it is best not to eat after 10 o'clock the night before. The first fasting blood sample is used to check the sugar level in the blood, which is called the baseline test. Then drink a cup of very sweet red bean soup, usually 75 grams of glucose dissolved in 300 ml of water, and drink it orally within 5 minutes. Then, venous blood should be drawn 1 hour and 2 hours after oral glucose administration to check the blood glucose level and compare the test results with the normal range.

All pregnant women who have not been diagnosed with diabetes should visit the doctor for the first time at 24-28 weeks and after 28 weeks to undergo a 75g glucose tolerance test, which is a test used to understand the body's ability to regulate glucose.
