Glucose tolerance test steps

Glucose tolerance test steps

The purpose of the molar pregnancy tolerance test is to check whether there is gestational diabetes. It is usually carried out by oral or intravenous injection of molar pregnancy. So, what is the process of the grape glucose tolerance test? Let's have a simple understanding of this issue. I hope the following points will be of some help to everyone! The actual process is like this:

1. Oral red grape glucose tolerance test (75g OGTT)

Preparation for inspection:

Eat normally for three days before the test, and fast for at least 8 hours after dinner one day before the test until the next morning (no later than 9 am).

Verification method:

A total of 3 blood tests were conducted, including one fasting blood test.

Inspection process:

(1) Draw 2 ml of venous blood on an empty stomach and retest immediately.

(2) 75g glucose (dissolved in 200ml water).

(3) Take the medicine orally within 3 to 5 minutes, and record the time from the first sip. Draw 2 ml of venous blood 1 hour and 2 hours after drinking the red bean syrup, and retest immediately. Some hospitals will collect urine for re-test (to measure urine sugar) at the same time as each blood test.

Warm reminder from the manufacturer: When doing the glucose tolerance test, pregnant mothers can bring some snacks with them, because after doing the test, pregnant mothers will definitely feel very hungry, and bringing some snacks will help replenish their energy.

2. Intravenous Glucose Tolerance Test (IGTT)

For the target:

For patients with abnormal gastrointestinal digestion and absorption, digestive tract diseases, such as gastrointestinal compliance and rapid absorption after gastric surgery, or intestinal dysfunction affecting gastrointestinal digestion and absorption, OGTT is no longer suitable and IGTT can be used instead.

Verification method:

Use 25% or 50% glucose injection, 0.5 g per kg of body weight, and inject intravenously within 2-4 minutes. Starting from the time of the initial injection, blood was drawn every 30 minutes for a total of 2-3 hours.

In normal people, the blood sugar level drops to the normal range within 2 hours. If the blood sugar level exceeds the standard value within 2 hours, it means that glucose tolerance is impaired.

The above introduces two methods of glucose tolerance test for hydatidiform mole. Pregnant mothers can learn about them first, so that they will have a better idea in their minds when they go to the hospital. They can just follow the doctor's instructions without panicking.
