What does intrauterine adhesion band mean?

Intrauterine adhesions are a well-known gynecological disease. Once suffering from this disease, female patients need to actively seek treatment. This disease is not very serious and can be completely cured. For example, surgical treatments have now appeared in clinical practice. In contrast, many people do not know what intrauterine adhesions mean, so the following will introduce you to this knowledge.

What does intrauterine adhesion band mean?

Intrauterine adhesion refers to partial or complete adhesion of the anterior and posterior walls of the uterine cavity, which causes the uterine cavity to narrow or disappear. It is usually related to the following factors:

1. Pregnancy factors

Pregnancy-related intrauterine surgeries, such as vacuum aspiration in early pregnancy, forceps curettage in mid-pregnancy, curettage for induction of labor in mid-pregnancy, curettage for postpartum hemorrhage, and curettage for spontaneous abortion. This may be because the basal layer of the endometrium of the pregnant uterus is more easily damaged, causing the uterine walls to adhere to each other and form permanent adhesions.

2. Non-pregnancy factors

Myomectomy (entering the uterine cavity), transuterine removal of submucosal uterine myomas, hysterectomy, and double uterus surgery destroy the basal layer of the endometrium, exposing the myometrium to the uterine cavity and leading to intrauterine adhesions.

3. Inflammatory Factors

Intrauterine infection of uterine tuberculosis, postmenopausal endometritis, secondary infection, infection in the puerperium, and postoperative intrauterine contraceptive device placement may cause secondary infection, leading to uterine adhesion.

4. Human Factors

The basal layer of the female endometrium is artificially destroyed, resulting in cavity adhesions. For example: after endometrial electrosurgical resection, intrauterine microwave, cryotherapy, chemotherapy and local radiotherapy.

The above is a brief introduction to the causes of intrauterine adhesions. I believe that after reading it, everyone has understood the causes of intrauterine adhesions. Before treatment, female friends must first find out the cause of intrauterine adhesions and then treat them symptomatically to ensure the effectiveness of the treatment. Otherwise, the consequences will be serious. Therefore, we remind all patients to go to a regular hospital for examination and diagnosis and recover as soon as possible.
