Causes of cough incontinence in women

Women are the most prone to urinary incontinence. In clinical medicine, the incidence rate of middle-aged and elderly women is the highest. Many patients have urine overflowing unconsciously when they cough. Some young women may also encounter such a situation. So what is the cause?

How can coughing cause urinary incontinence?

Urinary incontinence in coughing people is called stress urinary incontinence in clinical medicine. It mainly refers to the phenomenon that urine leaks out of the urethra due to increased abdominal pressure caused by sneezing or coughing. The patient's clinical symptom is that when the abdominal pressure increases, even if there is no obvious urinary sensation before, the patient's urine can be observed to be discharged from the urethra.

What are the causes of urinary incontinence?

Age: Aging is the main cause of urinary incontinence. With the increase of age, it is found in clinical medicine that the incidence of female urinary incontinence will gradually increase, and the most common age for women is 45 to 55 years old. This is mainly due to the relaxation of the pelvic tissue of the body as people age, degeneration of the urethral sphincter, and a decrease in estrogen. Some common diseases among the elderly, such as chronic lung diseases and diabetes, can also promote the progression of urinary incontinence.

Pregnancy: A woman's number of pregnancies is also positively correlated with her chance of developing urinary incontinence. Some women who are too old to give birth will be more likely to suffer from urinary incontinence. Women who choose to give birth naturally through vaginal delivery are more likely to suffer from urinary incontinence than women who give birth through caesarean section, and the probability of urinary incontinence in women who give birth through caesarean section is also greater than the risk factor for women who have not given birth.

Pelvic organ prolapse: Stress urinary incontinence is closely related to the prolapse of the patient's pelvic organ tissue. In clinical medicine, it is found that the two often exist together. The key is that the prolapse of pelvic organs will cause some tissues to function poorly, thus causing symptoms.

Obesity: Experts believe that obesity in women can also increase the likelihood of stress urinary incontinence.
