The newborn baby is provided with nutrients by the embryo and fetal umbilical cord in the amniotic fluid of the mother. At the moment of water birth, the environment in the birthing pool is similar to that of the amniotic fluid, and the alveoli of the newborn baby are still closed, so it is not easy to choke on water. Water birth has become the choice of a generation in Europe and the United States, but it is still relatively new in China. At present, there is no scientific research to prove which is better, water birth or labor analgesia. It is recommended that pregnant mothers choose according to their own conditions and the hospital's advice.

There are generally no risks with water birth, as it is a very natural way of giving birth, and various natural methods such as lying, sitting, squatting, etc. are advocated all over the world. If water birth is not successful, the delivery method can be changed immediately and the pregnant woman can give birth next to the delivery bed. If there are special circumstances, a caesarean section can be performed.
