High progesterone in early pregnancy means twins

High progesterone in early pregnancy means twins

Pregnant women usually have their progesterone levels measured during prenatal checkups in early pregnancy. During pregnancy, higher than normal progesterone levels are not a good thing and may be caused by certain diseases during pregnancy. But some people think that high progesterone is related to twins. So does high progesterone in early pregnancy mean twins?

High progesterone levels in early pregnancy may indicate twins, but it may also be caused by some diseases. Diseases that cause high progesterone levels in pregnant women include: hydatidiform mole, choriosquamous cell carcinoma, corpus luteum cyst, ovarian granulosa cell tumor, ovarian lipoid tumor, congenital adrenal hyperplasia, congenital 17a-hydroxylase deficiency, and essential hypertension. The actual cause requires further examination, such as blood hcg, gynecological color ultrasound, etc. Therefore, high progesterone in early pregnancy does not necessarily mean twins.

The high or low progesterone value has nothing to do with twin babies. In other words, the level of progesterone has no direct relationship with whether or not you are pregnant with twins. Because high progesterone levels may be caused by some diseases during pregnancy, such as hydatidiform mole, corpus luteum cyst, etc. These symptoms can cause high progesterone levels.

If a woman's progesterone level is relatively high during childbirth, it may affect the normal development of the fetus, and may also cause deformation of the fetus's limbs or spine. Therefore, it is very important to check whether the progesterone value is normal or not. The progesterone value should be checked immediately two months after preparing for pregnancy.

Moreover, because some expectant mothers have endocrine imbalance, it is easy for them to have high progesterone levels. If the progesterone level of expectant mothers is always high, it will immediately affect the normal growth and development. Moreover, too high a progesterone level may affect some normal conditions of the fetus in the belly, and the fetus may be easily deformed. Therefore, the progesterone level of pregnant women during pregnancy should not be too high. It must be within the standard as much as possible, which is beneficial to health.
