Brown blood in underwear

Brown blood in underwear

Blood stains appear in our vagina only during menstruation, but some women find that brown blood stains appear on their underwear even when they are not menstruating. In fact, there are many reasons for this situation. First of all, patients can consider whether it is ovulation bleeding. Generally, ovulation bleeding is caused by changes in progesterone hormone in the body and will disappear after a few months. If you are still worried, you can go to the hospital for a check-up.

During the period between two regular menstrual cycles, that is, the ovulation period, the estrogen level drops temporarily due to ovulation, causing the endometrium of some women to lose the support of estrogen, resulting in endometrial shedding and causing regular vaginal bleeding, which is called ovulation bleeding. Traditional Chinese medicine calls it "intermenstrual bleeding."

1. Traditional Chinese medicine believes that the main cause of intermenstrual bleeding is Yin deficiency, liver depression, damp heat, blood stasis, spleen deficiency, etc., which cause the Chong and Ren meridians to be disturbed during the period of stasis and the blood sea is not solid.

2. Western medicine believes that after the follicles mature and ovulate, the estrogen level will drop significantly. For some women, the lower estrogen level cannot maintain the growth of the endometrium, causing local shedding of the endometrium and a small amount of breakthrough bleeding. However, under normal circumstances, after ovulation, with the formation of the corpus luteum, the corpus luteum secretes estrogen and progesterone, which will quickly repair the endometrium and change it to the secretory phase, allowing the endometrium to thicken and repair and the bleeding to stop.

Clinical manifestations

It usually occurs on the 12th to 16th day of a regular menstrual cycle, usually lasts for several hours or 2 to 3 days, no more than 7 days, and the amount is significantly less than normal menstrual bleeding, and the bleeding can stop on its own. It may be accompanied by mild lower abdominal discomfort or back pain, or there may be no accompanying discomfort. Sometimes it occurs occasionally from the current menstrual cycle to the next menstrual cycle. For some individuals, it may last for a long time, with ovulation bleeding occurring in 4 to 5 menstrual cycles.

Ovulation bleeding usually occurs occasionally with a small amount of bleeding, sometimes only brown discharge. Most of the time, it stops on its own within 2 to 3 days and can be observed without treatment. For women with persistent ovulatory bleeding, since it occurs during ovulation, it usually interferes with conception and requires appropriate treatment measures after excluding other diseases.
