How long does it usually take for nausea and vomiting to occur during pregnancy?

After pregnancy, each pregnant mother's physical reaction is different. Some people will experience severe nausea, vomiting, and even loss of appetite at the beginning of pregnancy, but some pregnant mothers will not show obvious symptoms throughout the pregnancy. Generally speaking, during the first three months of pregnancy, the body will experience more obvious discomfort, such as nausea and vomiting.

Early pregnancy reaction refers to a series of reactions in the early stages of pregnancy (about six weeks after menstruation), which include an increase in human chorionic gonadotropin (HCG) in the pregnant woman's body, a decrease in gastric acid secretion and a prolonged gastric emptying time, leading to dizziness, fatigue, loss of appetite, preference for sour food or aversion to greasy food, nausea, and vomiting in the morning. These symptoms generally do not require special treatment. After 12 weeks of pregnancy, as the HCG level in the body decreases, the symptoms will disappear naturally and appetite will return to normal.

Clinical manifestations

1. Stopping of menstruation

As long as the woman is of normal childbearing age, has normal menstruation, and has sexual intercourse for more than two weeks after the normal menstrual period, she may be pregnant.

2. Breast pain, swelling and itching

This is a physiological phenomenon in early pregnancy. There may be changes such as darkening of the areola, obvious veins under the skin of the breast, and obvious protrusion of the nipple.

3. Nausea and vomiting

Many pregnant women in early pregnancy often experience nausea and vomiting, especially in the morning. These symptoms also vary from person to person, with some people experiencing mild symptoms while others experiencing severe ones.

4. Changes in skin color

Skin pigmentation or stretch marks may occur on the abdominal wall, especially in the later stages of pregnancy.

5. Vaginal mucosal discoloration

In early pregnancy, the vaginal mucosa may appear darker due to congestion.

6. Getting tired easily

In the early stages of pregnancy, you may feel tired and sleepy.

7. Frequent urination

During the third month of pregnancy, the bladder is compressed by the growing uterus, causing its capacity to decrease, resulting in frequent urination.

Generally, no special treatment is required, but it is necessary to understand whether the patient has any concerns about pregnancy, pay attention to her mental state, and give her more spiritual encouragement. Easily digestible food should be given according to the patient's preferences and eaten in divided portions, avoiding high-fat foods. Vitamins B1, B6, C and small doses of sedatives have certain effects on general symptoms.
