What should I do if my menstruation hasn't ended for more than ten days?

For female friends, "Aunt Flo" is their closest relative and will visit them every month. During this period, he didn't eat well, sleep well, and his mentality was not good, so we need to make good adjustments in all aspects for this relative. A normal menstrual cycle is one week. If it exceeds this time, there may be a problem. For example, if the menstruation has not ended after more than ten days, then what should I do if the menstruation has not ended after more than ten days?

The duration of a normal menstrual cycle: Menstrual period can refer to the duration of a woman's menstrual period or the menstrual cycle.

1. Menstrual cycle

The first day of bleeding is the beginning of the menstrual cycle, and the interval between the first days of two menstrual periods is called a menstrual cycle. It is generally 28 to 30 days, and 3 days earlier or later is still within the normal range. The length of the cycle varies from person to person, but each woman's menstrual cycle has its own regularity.

2. Travel time

The duration of a menstrual period. Usually 2-7 days. If the duration is prolonged or too short, it is pathological.

The reason why menstruation has not ended for more than ten days

The above-mentioned "menstrual period lasting for more than ten days and still not clear" means prolonged menstruation, which is more common in clinical practice as dysfunctional uterine bleeding (abbreviated as functional uterine bleeding), which can be divided into anovulatory functional uterine bleeding and ovulatory functional uterine bleeding.

1. Anovulatory functional uterine bleeding (more common in adolescent or perimenopausal women)

(1) Dysfunctional uterine bleeding during adolescence: It is mostly caused by immature or delayed development of the hypothalamus-pituitary-ovarian axis. Because a complete feedback regulation mechanism has not yet been established between the hypothalamus-pituitary and the ovaries, under the action of pituitary follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) and luteinizing hormone (LH), the follicles develop and secrete estrogen. However, the positive feedback of estrogen on the hypothalamus cannot form the FSH and LH peaks in the normal menstrual cycle. Therefore, although follicles develop in the ovaries, ovulation cannot occur, resulting in anovulatory functional uterine bleeding.

(2) Perimenopausal functional uterine bleeding: It is mainly caused by the decline of ovarian function. At this time, the number of follicles decreases and their maturation is impaired. At the same time, the response to pituitary gonadotropin is reduced, resulting in anovulatory functional uterine bleeding.

2. Ovulatory functional uterine bleeding (more common in women of childbearing age)

(1) Incomplete shedding of the endometrium: Due to incomplete atrophy of the corpus luteum, estrogen and progesterone levels cannot drop rapidly, and the endometrium sheds irregularly, which prolongs the bleeding period and increases the amount of blood.

(2) Prolonged endometrial repair: After the endometrium is shed during menstruation, the development of follicles in the next cycle is slow or poor, resulting in insufficient estrogen secretion, which causes the endometrium to fail to regenerate and repair as expected, resulting in prolonged menstruation.
