What is the meaning of gynecological TCT examination

Nowadays, many women hear about TCT examination when undergoing gynecological examination. So, what exactly does the TCT test check? In fact, TCT is a method for examining cervical cancer cells in women. With the gradual increase in the incidence of cervical cancer, many women have begun to pay attention to this disease. Gynecological TCT examination can effectively detect the condition of cervical cells and detect cancer in time.

TCT examination is the abbreviation of liquid-based thin-layer cytology test. It uses a liquid-based thin-layer cytology detection system to detect cervical cells and perform cytological classification diagnosis. It is currently the most advanced cervical cancer cell cytology examination technology in the world. Compared with the traditional cervical scraping Pap smear examination, it has significantly improved the specimen satisfaction and the detection rate of abnormal cervical cells. The TCT cervical cancer cell examination has a detection rate of 100% for cervical cancer cells. It can also detect some precancerous lesions and microbial infections such as fungi, Trichomonas, viruses, and chlamydia. Therefore, TCT technology is the most advanced technology used in screening of cervical cancer in women.

Specific steps

1. Use TCT's special sampler to collect cervical cell samples.

2. Unlike conventional cell smears, the TCT examination involves placing the collector into a vial containing cell preservation fluid for rinsing.

3. When doing TCT examination, use a fully automatic cell detector to disperse and filter the sample to reduce the remnants of blood, mucus and inflammatory tissue.

4. Microscopic detection and diagnosis during TCT examination.

Precautions

For women who want to do TCT examination, the following issues need to be noted:

1. Avoid sexual intercourse 24 hours before TCT examination; 2. Do not flush the vagina or use vaginal suppositories, or perform vaginal examination within 24-48 hours before TCT examination; 3. If there is inflammation, treat it first, and then do TCT examination to avoid affecting the diagnosis results; 4. TCT examination is best scheduled during the non-menstrual period.

Cervical TCT examination significantly improves the detection quality of cervical cell samples. Conventional Pap smears are often blurred due to factors such as blood, mucus, and inflammation, resulting in detection errors. In clinical trials, the cervical TCT examination can detect the number of blurred cervical cell samples, which can significantly increase the detection rate of cancerous cells and correspondingly reduce the number of times the Pap test needs to be repeated, thereby reducing patients' unnecessary worries caused by having to re-test.
