Can I take Ibuprofen while breastfeeding?

Mothers who are breastfeeding should not use drugs blindly, because most drugs contain certain hormones. If used blindly, these hormones will be passed to the baby through breast milk, thus affecting the baby's healthy growth. Ibuprofen is a painkiller that is often used in daily life, but can a pregnant woman take ibuprofen while breastfeeding?

Can Ibuprofen sustained-release capsules be taken while breastfeeding?

The instructions for ibuprofen sustained-release capsules generally state that they should be used with caution during breastfeeding.

However, given that the content of domestic drug instructions is generally lagging behind and has not been revised in a timely manner based on clinical data, some drugs that can be used during breastfeeding are marked as "prohibited" in their Chinese instructions. The official drug instructions of British pharmaceutical companies indicate that ibuprofen is secreted in low concentrations in breast milk, but the effect on infants is very limited. For example, ibuprofen sustained-release capsules are the recommended first-line clinical medication for mastitis during lactation or fever and pain caused by the common cold, and its safety and effectiveness have been widely recognized internationally.

After taking ibuprofen sustained-release capsules, 100% is excreted within 24 hours, of which about 1% is unchanged and part is excreted with feces. Generally, breastfeeding mothers can breastfeed their babies 24 hours after taking the medicine.

However, from a safety perspective, it is recommended that breastfeeding mothers take the medicine as directed by their doctor.
