Why is my period not over after more than ten days?

Under normal circumstances, a woman's menstrual cycle is about 28 to 30 days, but some women have a longer menstrual period every month, and sometimes the menstrual period can even last for more than 10 days. If a woman's menstruation lasts more than a week, it is considered an abnormal condition and is mostly directly related to certain diseases. So why does a woman’s menstruation not end after more than ten days?

1. Normal menstrual bleeding lasts for 2-8 days, so vaginal bleeding that lasts for more than 8 days is considered abnormal and the cause needs to be found as soon as possible. The first thing to consider is pregnancy. The most common cause of irregular vaginal bleeding in women of childbearing age is pregnancy-related complications, such as threatened abortion, ectopic pregnancy, trophoblastic disease (hydatidiform mole), etc. These diseases not only affect women's health, but may also endanger women's lives and must be taken seriously. The second thing to consider is dysfunctional uterine bleeding, that is, menstrual disorders. In addition, reproductive tract tumors, trauma, inflammation, etc. should also be considered. In short, you should see a doctor as soon as possible for relevant examinations so that effective treatment can be taken in time.

2. If the menstruation has not ended for more than ten days, it falls into the category of irregular menstruation, and the causes include organic and non-organic. The organic ones include uterine fibroids, adenomyosis, etc., and the non-organic ones include ovulation dysfunction, coagulation system abnormalities, atypical endometrial hyperplasia, taking emergency contraceptive pills, missed contraceptive pills, placement of intrauterine contraceptive devices, etc.; you need to seek medical attention in time.

3. If the menstruation has not stopped for more than ten days, it is very likely caused by functional uterine bleeding, uterine fibroids, luteal insufficiency, the influence of contraceptive ring, medical abortion, environmental changes, excessive fatigue or mental stress. Generally, the symptoms can be greatly improved through self-adjustment, but if the menstruation is not clean for a long time, you should seek medical treatment in time. If menstruation is always irregular, symptomatic treatment should be given. For example, the primary goal for patients with functional uterine bleeding is to stop bleeding, and the second is to adjust the menstrual cycle to avoid bleeding again; patients with uterine fibroids should decide whether to use medication or surgery based on the size of the tumor; patients with luteal insufficiency can use hormones to adjust menstruation in the short term; patients whose menstruation is always irregular due to the influence of contraceptive rings can try other contraceptive methods.
