When does a woman's ovulation period begin?

A woman's ovulation period needs to be calculated based on her menstrual period. Everyone's ovulation period is completely different. If you want to calculate the ovulation period more accurately, you need to use your longest menstrual period minus 11. This will make the result more accurate. Avoiding sexual intercourse during this period can achieve contraceptive effects, but it is not 100% contraceptive.

For irregular menstruation, the ovulation period calculation formula is:

The first day of ovulation = the number of days in the shortest menstrual cycle minus 18 days;

The last day of ovulation = the longest menstrual cycle minus 11 days.

For example, the shortest menstrual period is 28 days and the longest is 37 days. You need to subtract 18 from the shortest regular period (28-18=10) and subtract 11 from the longest regular period (37-11=26). Therefore, the ovulation period is from the 10th to the 26th day after the menstrual period.

It is very important for young women to correctly grasp the ovulation period: if you want to get pregnant, start from the first day of the ovulation period and maintain a frequency of having sex every two days. If you persist for a few months, you will generally get pregnant unless there are special circumstances. Women who do not want to get pregnant need to miss these days of sexual intercourse. At this time, the ovulation period will be called another term: the dangerous period (easy to get pregnant).

Cervical mucus observation

After menstruation

The cervical mucus is often thick but in small quantity, or even with no mucus at all, which is called the "dry period", indicating a non-ovulation period. In the middle of the menstrual cycle, as the endocrine system changes, the mucus increases and becomes thinner, and the increase in vaginal discharge is called "

Moist period". As ovulation approaches, the mucus becomes clear, smooth and elastic, like egg white, with high stringiness and not easy to break. The last day of this mucus is ±48 hours.

Ovulation day, therefore, when the vagina feels moist, it is the ovulation period, also known as the "fertile period". If you plan to conceive, you should choose the "wet period" before ovulation.

Self-test with test strips

Ovulation test strips are tested by

The peak level of luteinizing hormone (LH) is used to predict ovulation. 24 to 48 hours before ovulation.

The luteinizing hormone (LH) in the urine will reach a peak level, and the result of self-testing with ovulation test strips will show positive.

Enter your menstrual cycle and the start time of your last menstrual period, and start testing with the test strip on the date marked in red. If the test result is negative, you can test every other day. If a weak positive result appears, you need to test every day. If a strong positive result appears (that is, both the test line and the control line are very obvious), it means that ovulation will occur within 24-48 hours.

Generally, a strong positive result will last for 2 days, and when the result turns from strong positive to negative, it means that ovulation has occurred. There are instructions on the back of the test strip package, which should be read carefully before use.

The follicles develop and mature under the action of follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) and luteinizing hormone (LH). Within 24 hours before PL, there will be a peak in LH, and it will definitely occur. Therefore, we use PL test paper to detect this peak. When the color of the second line of the test paper is close to, the same as, or exceeds the color of the first line, you know that PL is expected within 24 hours. It's very intuitive and clear, and there's plenty of time to prepare.
