Is dysmenorrhea a gynecological disease?

Is dysmenorrhea a gynecological disease?

Dysmenorrhea is a problem that exists in many women. Many people also want to know whether dysmenorrhea is a gynecological disease. In fact, dysmenorrhea is not a disease, so it cannot be called a gynecological disease. However, dysmenorrhea is a symptom of gynecological diseases. If a woman has dysmenorrhea, it is very likely that she has gynecological problems. So, what gynecological diseases does dysmenorrhea indicate in women?

1. Primary dysmenorrhea

This type of dysmenorrhea is relatively common, especially in adolescent girls, and often occurs during menarche or within 1 to 2 years after menarche. It is dysmenorrhea that cannot be diagnosed after excluding pelvic diseases and other factors. Generally, primary dysmenorrhea caused by physiological effects is mainly concentrated in the lower abdomen, and no abnormalities are found in gynecological examinations of primary dysmenorrhea. It can be relieved through psychological treatment, and if necessary, prostaglandin synthase inhibitors or oral contraceptives can be used for treatment. For a considerable number of women, dysmenorrhea will improve after marriage and childbirth.

2. Endometriosis

Endometriosis mainly occurs during the childbearing age when estrogen secretion is vigorous, mostly in women aged 20-40. It basically does not occur before puberty or after menopause. Its main clinical manifestations are pain - dysmenorrhea, pelvic pain, pain during sexual intercourse, and lower abdominal pain. The dysmenorrhea is progressive, that is, there is no dysmenorrhea in the first few years of menstruation, and then dysmenorrhea gradually appears, and the degree of dysmenorrhea becomes more and more severe. The pain is mostly located in the lower abdomen, lumbosacral region and mid-pelvic cavity, and may radiate to the inner thighs, lower back and back. The pain often occurs during menstruation, is most severe on the first day of menstruation, and lasts throughout the menstrual period. If endometriosis is not treated in time, the pelvic cavity will become the main site of its invasion. It can stimulate the pelvic peritoneum and cause pelvic inflammation, adhesions, etc., and even affect female conception. Therefore, for women of childbearing age, early detection and early treatment of endometriosis are particularly important.

3. Pelvic inflammatory disease

Pelvic inflammatory disease is one of the common gynecological diseases and is also a gynecological disease that is more harmful to women. If pelvic inflammatory disease is not treated thoroughly, it may cause a series of problems, such as infertility, ectopic pregnancy, chronic pelvic pain, recurrent pelvic inflammatory disease, etc., which will seriously endanger women's health. Dysmenorrhea caused by chronic pelvic inflammatory disease may cause lower abdominal distension, pain, and lumbar pain, which worsens before and after menstruation and gradually subsides after menstrual bleeding. The main measures for the prevention and treatment of pelvic inflammatory disease are: pay attention to sexual hygiene, reduce sexually transmitted diseases, and promptly treat lower reproductive tract infections. Once pelvic inflammatory disease is discovered, follow the doctor's advice and receive thorough treatment to reduce the occurrence of sequelae.

4. Others

Mechanical obstructions such as excessive anteversion of the uterus and uterine atresia can also cause poor menstrual blood flow and blood accumulation, which can induce abnormal contraction of the uterine smooth muscle and cause dysmenorrhea.
