What is normal vaginal discharge like?

Leucorrhea is a particularly important secretion in the female vagina, so basically most women are more concerned about the normal condition of leucorrhea. Leucorrhea will be produced in the woman's vagina before and after ovulation. If the leucorrhea is abnormal, it means that the woman's vagina may have a gynecological disease. We often hear about abnormal leucorrhea, but many women are also very confused about what normal leucorrhea should look like.

Leucorrhea is a vaginal discharge. Under normal circumstances, this discharge is common and it is very normal. First of all, it lubricates the vagina to keep it moist and the environment comfortable. Under normal circumstances, its color is generally milky white, but it will change with the duration of the menstrual cycle. During the ovulation period, the leucorrhea will become transparent, just like snot, and it may be transparent and stringy.

Because the cervical mucus plug will soften at this time, allowing sperm to pass through the cervical mucus plug. Under normal circumstances, the cervical mucus plug blocks the opening of the cervical canal, preventing bacteria from rising, which is beneficial for preventing infection. During ovulation, the cervix softens under the action of a large amount of estrogen, and after softening, it becomes stringy, allowing sperm to break through, which is conducive to conception. Therefore, the leucorrhea will appear transparent at this time, and it is often milky white at other times. If the leucorrhea is purulent, yellow or green, and thin, it means that there is inflammation of the vagina and you must see a doctor.

If the amount is extremely large or extremely small, or is accompanied by itching of the vulva, or has an extremely bad odor, such as a foul or fishy odor, it is considered an abnormal secretion. But there is a normal situation, for example, before and after menstruation or during ovulation, or an appropriate increase in leucorrhea, as long as there is no change in color or odor, it is considered normal leucorrhea.
