What are the causes of irregular menstrual cycles?

The menstrual cycle is a woman's physiological cycle, and whether the women's menstrual cycle is normal or not is also of great concern to many people. Many people want to know the reasons for irregular menstrual cycles. In fact, irregular menstrual cycles may be caused by pregnancy, but may also be related to irregular lifestyle.

1. The first is pregnancy, and the second is irregular menstruation. The reason for delayed menstruation is the situation of menstruation after abortion. The time will be different depending on the number of days of pregnancy and personal physical condition. Generally speaking, the second menstrual cycle will follow after an early abortion. In many cases, due to the changes in the body's hormones caused by the abortion, ovulation may be delayed, and menstruation may be postponed accordingly. Therefore, there may be no menstruation for one or several months after the abortion. If your period is delayed for more than 7 to 10 days, it is best to go to the hospital for a detailed examination. Women with irregular menstruation will definitely worry.

2. Side effects of the drug: Long-term use of contraceptives can cause endocrine disorders and delayed menstruation. Doctors also found, based on patient feedback, that a new generation of gastrokinetic drug, metoclopramide, also known as domperidone, may also cause this condition. Since metoclopramide does not easily cross the blood-brain barrier, it is believed that it has no inhibitory effect on central dopamine receptors. Central dopamine receptors are inhibited, resulting in a decrease in the amount of hypothalamic release factors entering the anterior pituitary. As a result, the anterior pituitary secretes less gonadotropin and corticotropin, leading to amenorrhea and delayed ovulation.

3. Abnormal emotions: Long-term mental depression, sulking, or severe mental stimulation and psychological trauma can all lead to menstrual disorders or dysmenorrhea or amenorrhea. This is because menstruation is caused by the stimulation of the endometrium by hormones secreted by the ovaries, and the hormones secreted by the ovaries are controlled by the release of hormones from the pituitary gland and hypothalamus. Therefore, any abnormality in the function of the ovaries, pituitary gland, or hypothalamus will affect menstruation.
